Shu'tar's nose wrinkled at the dust that seemed to be filtering the sunlight from the open window. The wooden floor creaked beneath his heavy boots as the man, the demon, ushered him inside and bade him sit on one of the wooden chairs. How quaint. Most of Mars didn't have organic building materials. Those had disappeared long ago and what was left of the old organic building materials could mostly be found in old stories for children and in museums slowly rotting away. He supposed Mera, being prone to flights of fancy, may have taken a liking to such humble places. Chi, on the other hand, would likely not be happy about it.

"So, tell me about yourself," the demon said.

"I am General Shu'tar from the planet Mars. My mission is to seek out our princess, Chimera, who has recently fled the palace and her duties to come here, and return her safely back home. Her skin is red, like mine, and her hair is black. Have you seen someone like this?"

"I..." was that a hint of recognition in his eyes? "She might be in danger. I saw her with another demon."

"And that's bad?"

"It is if she's with who I think she's with. There's a group of dangerous demons going around attacking people. They call themselves the Ten Commandments. I fought with one of them the other day, but someone helped him escape. She was red like you are. We don't have a lot of people on this planet who look like you two."

"Do you know where they are now?"

"Yeah, I swung by for a visit there not too long ago. I can give you the coordinates. Do you want some backup?"

"I... this is a diplomatic mission. If these Ten Commandments are enemies of yours, your presence might provoke them. But thank you for the offer."

The demon shrugged.

"I could ask Merlin to send you straight to them if you want."

"Most generous of you."

A woman strode into the room. If Shu'tar was at all interested in anyone who wasn't Princess Chimera, he'd attempt to flirt with her.

In an instant, Shu'tar was no longer in the Boar Hat. Instead, he found himself standing outside a place that resembled a wave of darkness.
