Part 24

Both Magnus and Alec arrived in London the next evening and they both fetched by Magnus' driver Henry. He drove Alec home and by the time they reached there, Magnus was ready to send him to the door but he was held by Alec, stopping him from getting out from the car. "I think its best you head home, you don't have to - you know." Alec was blushing thinking on the night before how their amorous activity came through his mind. Magnus chuckled on the thought of Alec thinks he wants to continue what they left off. "You know I won't rush into anything if you don't want to. I will wait as long as you want me too." He said and Alec sighed resting his back against the seat.

"Its not that. Its just I need to figure out what I'm gonna do now since I'm not depending on my father's money. I guess back being poor undergraduate." He rubbed the back of his head chuckling how things in his life had turned. "Alec," Magnus turned his body facing him and held his hand with his, "You know you are not alone like before, you have me and Rafe. All you have to do is ask." He said and Alec smiled shaking his head, "That would be the last thing I ask from you, you have done so much for me Magnus. Its time for me to live on my own." Magnus sighed and before he said another word, Alec pressed his lips to prevent him. The kiss lasted a breath and Alec cut it short feeling embarrassed of Henry right in the car with them. "Good night, take care of yourself Magnus." Alec wishes him and even though Magnus didn't want to let Alec go he had too, he respected Alec's wishes and he knew he won't lose him anymore this time, or so he thought. With one last kiss on the lips, Alec parted and he waved Magnus off before entering his home. Magnus waited for Alec to get inside only then he leave feeling the heaviness in his heart. 

Alec busied himself with his studies and exams and for the free time he had, he spend it working at the cafe near his house. He stopped asking Tom to fetch him since he doesn't work for him anymore even though his mother insisted. The moment he went back to his university he went to the management and applied for a student loans. Granted he was one of the rich student there but he refused to accept Robert's money and since he's already in second year, he doesn't need to pay much. He was glad when they approved and although his mother was furious on his decision she can't changed his mind.

Alec even applied to work at the local cafe near his house and it helps him to clear his mind off. Magnus has been reaching him but he just kept giving excuses to avoid him. Alec feels like Magnus treating him like a charity case even though he didn't. Every time Magnus called him to meet up he would make some kind of excuses so he could avoid him. He doesn't know why he felt this way but he felt that Magnus could do better than him. He wishes Magnus could see it instead of having him explained it.

"All right class, congratulations on your final exams, now we're gonna talk about your internship." Alec's professors spoke right after they finished their exams, they were handed out a paper on places for their internship and Alec eyed his name, 'Shane's Enterprise.' He saw the details for his internship and he was lucky that the company wasn't that far so he could take a bus there. "So, most of you know the internship take up about nine months, the first three month would be your trial and the next six is the the internship program. If anything happened during your internship, you might be expelled from the program or suspended from your graduation. So please behave."

Alec sighed hearing that since trouble always find his way. But he dedicated to focus in finishing his studies so he could be someone instead of depending on his family's name. He went out of his class heading towards the exit not bothering the side chatters around him. He was lost in his thoughts when he was nudge by his elbow, "Hey, didn't you hear me calling you?" Lou said as he was walking side by side, "Huh? yeah, sorry I'm not. What is it?" He asked again fixing his strap on his shoulder.
