32: truth untold

Rosé's POV

I was in the hospital accompanying Jisoo unnie as usual. Today, i brought fried chicken with honey onion seasoning fries. I sat down talking to her about my day.

"So unnie... today nothing much happened. I woke up and had breakfast, then i went to work. It was tiring ofcourse but everyday when i think about being able to visit you after work, my energy refills up." I paused smiling. "Then i went to the street stalls as always, i don't think i can ever get bored of the place. There is just so much good food there and cheap too! And i bought these, my colleague recommended it to me so i guess i'll try it now." I said excitedly.

As i was about to open the bag, i heard the sound of the heart monitor. It was a different kind of sound; more lively.

beepbeep beepbeep beepbeep...

My eyes shot up immediately in shock.

Out of the corner of my eye, Jisoo's finger moved subtly.

I dropped the bag of chicken and fries.

"J-Jisoo unnie...." I stammered, holding her hand tight, my heart racing against my chest.

And as if it was a miracle, her eyelids fluttered and opened slowly, adjusting to the lighting.

I couldn't believe it. After a year of wishing and praying, God finally heard me and let Jisoo wake up.

"C-Chae...-young?" Jisoo asked slightly confused as she tried to sit up.

I was crying but i tried to hold it in and not embarrass myself infront of Jisoo, but i was just so overwhelmed and bursting with joy.

"Don't. Just lay still. I-I'll call the nurse." I said and pressed the button to call for a nurse anxiously.

"Nurse? Where.... is this the hospital?! Oh my chiken what am i doing here? Oh no–– Jennie." She said worriedly. "I need to tell her about Lisa and Taehyung!"

"Calm down Jisoo unnie! Please listen to me, don't be shocked but... you're a little behind the times. You've been in a coma for... a year." I said nervously.

Jisoo opened her mouth agape.

"WHAT?!???"

"Oh my lord! Please unnie, calm down."

"HOW DO I CALM DOWN, IVE BEEN ASLEEP FOR ONE FRICKEN YEAR AND I DREAMT OF SO MANY CHICKENS BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ONE NIGHT"

I covered my ears with my hands as Jisoo shouted.

"But anyway- is Jennie okay?! Lisa?? Taehyung??? Please tell me Jennie and Lisa have already been dating and Taehyung got his butt whooped for cheating." Jisoo asked quickly.

I shook my head.

"Shit.... urgghh." Jisoo whined facepalming herself.

I was surprised by how much energy this woman has for someone who just woke up from a long coma.

"Umm.. if you would excuse me unnie, im going to call Jennie unnie to inform her that you've woken up. She will be so relieved." I said suddenly remembering her request.

"Oh okay sure, i miss my jendeukie. And i have lots of things to say to her......"

I nodded then went to my bag and took out my phone to make the call.

"Hello Jennie unnie? This is Chaeyoung. Jisoo unnie... she's awake."

After informing jennie, i kept my phone and walked back to jisoo, noticing that she was staring at the ground. I followed her gaze and caught sight of the paper bag filled with chicken and fries that i dropped earlier.
