Jahseh
"Gazzy it's three in the morning some one better be dying," I groaned into the phone. I was awoken by Gazzy calling me back to back.
"I need your help Jah. My neighbor just left her baby outside her apartment. I saw her sat him down, that was yesterday at like five I thought she was just opening her door, but I heard him crying so I came to check what was going on and her apartment is empty. The only thing there is the baby, a few diapers and a couch." He said through the phone.
"I'm on my way," I said and hung up. "Stoke I have to go look for Alaia okay," I shook him awake.
"Where you going? Stay with me," he said still half asleep as he reached his arms out to me.
I smiled and kissed his forehead.
"Gazzy needs me something happened, I'll be back, call me when they wake up," I threw on a hoodie and sweat pants and slid on my slides. "I love you."
"I love you too, baby."
I grabbed what I needed and I was on my way.
"Gazzy?" I called when I walked up to his apartments and saw the police everywhere.
"Over here," he said. I followed his voice and found him sitting in a chair in front of his door while he held the boy who looked no older than one.
"What's going on?" I asked a police officer.
"His mom was on the run so I'm guessing she's hiding somewhere but she abandoned her baby and he wont go to anyone but Gazzy." A social worker explained.
"So what's going to happen to him?" I asked.
"We will take him to an orphanage."
I frowned at the idea.
"Isn't that like what you were in?" Gazzy asked me.
"Yeah," I nodded my head. "No, no you cant put him there, they dont take care of babies," I told the social worker, "They just there for the money."
"Well we have limited options sir," she sighed. "There isn't much we can do in such short notice."
"I can ask Stokeley about taking him?" I suggested. "My house is just full I only have one room left," I sighed.
"I dont want nothing bad to happen to him," Gazzy shook his head. "He's already so hurt." He sighed as he looked at the baby.
I frowned. It hurt me to see Gazzy so sad.
"Well what if I took him? I can take him." Gazzy suggested.
"That's not a bad idea," I agreed. "He can take him right?"
"All we can do now is give you temperary custody until we do a few home visits to make sure you are fit parent," the social worker told him.
"Yeah, yeah thats good. Thank you," Gazzy told her just as Omar approached us with a walmart bag. He gave it to Gazzy and I watch as he sat the baby on his lap and pulled out supplies to make a bottle. He made the bottle and gave it to the baby. "Better mi amor?" He asked.
"Yay now I can spoil someone else's kids cause mine are already too spoiled." I smiled. "You're gonna be a good dad, look how much Aiden loves you."
"Dad? What did I miss?" Omar asked as he looked between the two of us.
"We are gonna take him cause I dont want him to go to a bad home," Gazzy said. "We can do it. We just have to buy him some diapers and stuff. And we can take him to the doctor and everything."
I know he means well, but it only it were that easy. He will be okay though. He will be a good dad. And I'll be here to help him.
"Uh Okay," Omar shrugged. He knelt down and rubbed the baby's cheek. "What's your name?"
The baby pushed his hand away and shoved his face in Gazzy's chest.
"His name is Lamar," Gazzy said. "I babysat for her a few times that's how he knows me."
"Hi Lamar, I'm your uncle Jahseh, but you can call me seh seh," crouched down in front of him.
"Seh?" He babbled with his bottle in his mouth.
"Yes baby," I smiled a him.
He smiled slightly as he sucked on his bottle. He's going to have a good dad now.
