Cory slowly backed away from the adults, holding his arm as he watched Sky rag his arms around in an attempt to get free.

"You know, we could come to an agreement if you stop fighting back." The guard smirked beneath his helmet as he calmly approached the hybrid. Cory just let out a low growl and kicked him in the stomach, sending him flying into the guard behind him. Sky tried to shout over to his friend but, due to having a metal-gloved hand slapped over his mouth, only a muffled sound emerged.

Taking advantage of the guards strength, Sky lifted both of his feet from the ground, confusing the adults before he aimed for the weak point in the armour (just below where their belly-button would be) and swung them backwards as rapidly as he could. He fell to the ground with a thud then quickly scrambled to get up and run.

Sky immediately sprinted over to Cory, grabbed his hand and pulled the two of them up on to the huge climbing frames. He jumped and latched onto the ropes to swing himself up, Cory following closely behind.

When they reached a safe spot to take a break and stand, Sky looked to Cory, who was already staring back at him.

"You alright?" Sky asked, taking a couple of deep breaths and standing up straight.

"Yeah. How 'bout you?" Cory cautiously gazed towards the ropes and then back at Sky.

"I'm fine." He answered shortly, noticing Cory's concern and also looking down at one of the only ways up. "Think they'll be able to get to us?"

The only answer he got was a shrug as Cory jumped to climb further, flinching a little as he latched onto the wooden bar. Sky leapt ahead of him and proceeded to help him up afterwards.

"Be careful!" Sky hissed, though he sounded more worried than angry. "You shouldn't just go jumping around like that when your arm's in that state!" Cory gripped the top of his arm to try and numb the pain a little, a neutral look remaining on his face. After a moment his expression softened a little.

"Yeah, I know... Sorry." Cory let his gaze drop to the ground below them. Sky began saying something else as Cory noticed the guards loading their guns with some sort of darts. They positioned their weapons, preparing to shoot. Cory's eyes widened, watching as they pulled the triggers.

"Cory? What's wro-" Sky began, only to be quickly interrupted by his partner.

"GET DOWN!" Cory screamed, leaping at Sky and knocking the two of them down onto the wooden platform. The darts flew over them rapidly, continuing until they seemed to be never-ending.

Attempting to be subtle as to not alert the guards or get hit, the pair slowly shuffled backwards. The two prepared to stand up and run until Sky's hand abruptly slipped off of the platform; Sky himself would have gone with it if it wasn't for his inhuman reflexes.

Milliseconds before he could safely regain his balance, there was a sharp pain in his wrist. Only a moment later, Sky's body went limp...

Hey guys! Sorry for this chapter being shorter than the rest AND taking so long 😕 I've been having trouble staying motivated with writing recently. Along with that, I couldn't really figure out how to put what I wanted to happen into words. So sorry if this chapter wasn't the best.

If you have any tips on how to stay motivated please leave them in the comments! It would really help 😅

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter either way and have a good day/night! Baiii
