LWL is full of characters I have fallen in love with while writing this story. While most of the people are fictional, a LOT of the horses found in this story are from my life. I thought it would be fun to put a face to the names!

"Love Story" aka Rosie was based on my "heart horse" Izzie Bella

"Love Story" aka Rosie was based on my "heart horse" Izzie Bella. My one big regret with Izzie is that I didn't get her when she was younger, so in LWL I'm allowing Sawyer to live that dream! I bought Izzie when she was six years old and we've been together for over eleven years now. She's been my rock since the day she arrived in my life. We've been through all of life's ups and downs, from one side of the country to the other. I wouldn't be the woman I am today if I didn't own Izzie.

As Izzie has gotten older she has gotten the white spots you see on her in the picture. They are called Birdcatcher spots. They change from year to year and people just love her little polka dots! The other big difference, appearance wise, between Izzie and Rosie are their socks. Izzie only has three. I've always wished she had all four, so Rosie does!

"Newsworthy" aka Kenzie was based on my mare GiGi. GiGi was my Oldenburg mare who really did compete in the McClay! I lucked into her and for three years she was a huge confidence builder for me. Sadly three years to the day, I lost her. She was a one in a million kind of horse who I feel privileged to have owned.

"Cover Girl" aka Moxie was based on my childhood pony who was also named Moxie

"Cover Girl" aka Moxie was based on my childhood pony who was also named Moxie. Moxie was a spitfire little thing when I first bought her by the time I was in college she was a great little kids pony. I sold her when I was in college but I was able to buy her back a few years ago. Moxie now owned by my childhood riding instructor and lives on the farm I grew up on and is living a happy retired life!

"Jovial" aka Jovie was based on my "heart pony" CiCi. CiCi came into my life several years ago. She was owned by an amazing young woman and wonderful horse rider, Lizzy Traband. (Google and YouTube her!) Lizzy outgrew CiCi and by some miracle she sent CiCi home with me! I fell in love with her at first ride! She's spunky and full of attitude, but she always gave me everything she had! Sadly in the summer of 2017 CiCi suffered a career ending injury. Next month, April 2019, CiCi is expecting her first foal!

"National Treasure" aka Treasure.... Treasure was somewhat based on my favorite horse when I was a teenager. Hot Shot was an opinionated and feisty little Quarter Horse mare, just ask luckydonivan about all of the times Hot Shot tried to kick her. Hot Shot and I always saw eye to eye. I loved her and she loved me. I said goodbye to her on May 17, 2017 at the age of thirty-two. Even after all time I was lucky enough to have with her, it still wasn't enough. I miss her every single day, and nearly two years later I still feel the loss just as strongly as the day I said goodbye.

"Will Be Done" aka Will was based on my best friend's favorite horse whose name was also Will

"Will Be Done" aka Will was based on my best friend's favorite horse whose name was also Will. I'll have to see if I can get a picture of him from her. My own version of Autumn was lucky enough to break this amazing pony and then she had the chance to break his younger brother. Both ponies are cute little gray Connemaras.

"Little Black Dress" aka Vera was based on one of my favorite ponies, Schey

"Little Black Dress" aka Vera was based on one of my favorite ponies, Schey. Schey was also named "Little Black Dress". She was a welsh cross pony I truly lucked into. I feel bad because Vera is a pony with a vital role in Sawyer's story. After several years with me, Schey is now owned by a little girl. I'm so thrilled about the time I had with her, she was a true Rockstar!
