Chapter 7

Chaeyoung PoV

It's been a week or so since I had my half day rest day from work and then I was called again. There was no surgery schedule today, and sunbae announced that the hospital's surgery department will not be accepting patients that do not have severe injuries for a week.

At least, there's a little rest time for us but even if we said that, we continued accepting patients and doing operations because it's a doctors obligations. But the paramedics van has now spread the tasks for each hospital equally.

I'm glad about that. 

Earlier, I was paged along with Jihyo, Chanyeol, Yeri, Joy and Bambam for a meeting. It's around 9:30 AM and we were all rushing towards the Board Meeting room. I guess it was urgent? Besides, we were called to the Board's Meeting room!

About Jiyoon? She's doing well, it's the period in their school wherein their high school and middle school students have their activities and kindergarten students stay home for a week. So she's with either Jisoo or Jennie, Lisa is in London for some fashion week. 

I open the door to the meeting room first because they said I was the oldest between all of us so I have to do it. And that I look more doctor than the rest. All our nurses and residents weren't granted a rest day and I was the only one from our group who took a break. 

When we entered, all of the department heads, board members, shareholders, and Ms. Woo were seated in a wide table, and it was created well, the wood I mean. The assistant or whatever showed us to our seats and then we all sat down. 

As I looked around, the tension in the room seems to be high. And I noticed that Jungkook was there, seated next to sunbae and I also recognized the guys I saw a week ago who talked to sunbae. They were seated next to Jungkook. 

Their names...from the big metal plate..is...Park Ji Min and...Kim Tae Hyung. I know where this Park guy is coming from, in the news it says he's arranged to marry Kang Seulgi. Oh..my..God! Her niece was my patient! 

From the high tension and quietness, the medical chairman, Doctor Park Jin Young cleared his throat and cut the awkwardness in the room. 

"Everyone, do you know the reason why the board and I called for this emergency meeting?" he asked. 

No one replied but he answered, "Our hospital is going to give a voluntary surgical team and medical team to a country town in Hawaii."

"So? What's this got to do with us?" one of the department head's asked. 

"We've hand picked these doctors, by we, I mean, me and Ms. Woo, personally," Doctor JYP answered. "This is mandatory for every team. At least 1 or 2 department members will be taken, but the surgery team will be most affected."

"How so?" sunbae asked.

"You see..the country town is in need of doctors and a lot of children don't get to eat full meals in that side of Hawaii."

"And?" sunbae asked again.

Doctor Park sighed, "Doctor Kim, we know your department is the most brilliant. Be it surgery or check-up. Your department is in no need of flaws for it is built of perfection."

"How many doctors are you taking?" sunbae asked.

"3, one an attending, the other 3 are graduating residents."

I looked at the 6 of us. Of course, I'm the attending. Jihyo is a nurse and Chanyeol is a pharmacist/nurse. Joy is under Tzuyu's team. Bambam is a resident under gastro team. Yeri is in my department. 

"Who are they..?" sunbae asked.

Doctor Park pointed to us.

Sunbae looked at Doctor Park, "Park-sunbae...you know that Ms. Park is the brain of our system. She is the reason why we operate in order and well. Why choose her? There are so many other attendings! Tzuyu, Jackson, Suho, Minho, Taeyeon and so many more!"
