Chapter 53

Chaeyoung PoV

I sat in my office, all bored. 

No one visited me today, talked to me or even gave me a good conversation. I entered the operation room, only to find out that I was assisting. Namjoon-sunbae didn't want me to perform the surgery, for some reason.

And for some reason, he hasn't been talking to me a lot lately. 

Jennie still wouldn't allow to give Jiyoon to me because I'm back with Junhoe again. It's almost Jiyoon's Christmas break. Alice will be coming to visit and I guess, it's because mom and dad wants to see Jiyoon for a long time now. 

I think for Christmas break, I'll let Jiyoon stay with them and come back 4 days before Christmas. 

It's starting to get late, and I'm still seated in my hospital office. As usual, Tzuyu would annoy me about being a loner and all that ever since I came from the medical mission. I've also received less patients ever since I came back.

Now, I'm fidgeting with my lamp. Turning it off and on. Waiting for the time where me and Junhoe would have dinner. 

My phone rings, out of the blue and I hurriedly answer it. 

"Yeobuseo? Chaeyoung?" Junhoe's voice can be heard. "I can't meet you tonight, a lot of things in the office right now."

My happy face turned upside down.

"Oh, it's alright. I'm busy too, actually. That's okay, we can have it some other time," I answered. 

"Tomorrow would be a good day. I'll make it up to you. See you tomorrow," He said and turned off the phone call. 

That's okay, he's probably busy. You know, he just got promoted to department director in his office so I'm pretty sure it's very pressuring and busy. Nothing to worry, he's just doing his part.

I stand up and take off my doctor's coat and walk out of my office. As I pass by the lobby, I see a grey haired girl looking out in the big window. When she turned sideways, she waved to me. 

"Chaeyoung-ah! Palli!" Lisa called me. 

I ran to her, finally happy that there's someone who wants to meet me today. She opened her arms, making me hug her really tight. 

"Lonely today?" she asked me. 

I nodded in our embrace, "No one came in today."

"Aw, that's okay, baby," she smiled. "So, you want to eat in a cafe or..?"

"Sure, that sounds good, I barely ate anything today!" I said and dragged her out of the hospital. 

We rode towards a cafe, it wasn't a peaceful kind of cafe though. It was more on a cafe that has a bar around 2 buildings away from it. 

She and I sit down, and ordered a light meal. Lisa was smiling with the food she was eating, and I was a little disappointed at mine. Not that I didn't like it, but I just didn't feel like eating at all. 

There was that feeling in my stomach that there will be something bad that'd happen today. I don't know what it is, but it's just that feeling. 

Lisa cleaned the side of her lips with the table napkin and cleared her throat. 

"So, how's life with Junhoe again?" she asked. "Wha? I'm not allowed to ask my how my friend is doing in a relationship?"

I shook my head, "Ani, I just thought you were still mad at me."

She scoffed, "Well, yeah, I'm mad at you but I don't want to lose you as a friend. Jennie-eonnie took it a bit far, but she made sense, Chaeyoung. Now, answer my question. How are things going on between you two?"
