Izumi's POV
"Way to go Sakura!" Naruto called excitedly ignoring me completely... oh... why can't he compliment me? I thought glaring down at the pinknette from my perch at the top of my tree.
"Well, it seems that our female members are probably the closest to becoming hokage... despite all of Naruto's boasts... and the Uchiha clan doesn't seem so impressive either..."
"Kakashi Sensei!" Sakura burst out, "You have a big mouth! (Now Sauske's going to hate me!!!)"
The two boys looked at each other and appeared to have gotten some much needed determination and Sakura continued to work at her tree climbing as well. I climbed my tree a few more times, but I could already do it perfectly anyways, so there wasn't much point. The other three genin appeared to have been getting exhausted as I jumped down from my tree.
"Dang it!" Naruto grumbled walking over to Sakura Whom had a somewhat surprised look on her face, "Hey! Sakura!" he whisper yelled, "You're good at this... Any tips?"
Meh! Of course he would ask her! Wait... Am I getting jealous...? What for? I scratched my head at the thought. what a preposterous idea?
The next morning Sakura and I sat at the bridge with Tazuna while Naruto and Sauske continued training. We both yawned numerous time since it was so boring. As I stretched and yawned moisture forming in the corners of my eyes. The noise of the bridge builder and the other workers was rather loud, which I wasn't particularly fond of.
"Just you two?" Tazuna asked carrying a long piece of lumber over his shoulder and a hard hat on his head, "Where's Blondie and Pretty-boy?"
"They're out training!" Sakura answered while I played with my hair because I still didn't really know Tazuna and so he made me nervous.
"And why aren't you two with them?" the bridge builder stopped to chat for a moment.
"I surpassed them!" Sakura smirked cockily, "Kakashi Sensei told me to stay here and protect you." she didn't even acknowledge my presence.
"Really...?" Tazuna looked surprised at that, "And what about you, blue hair?" he addressed me while I still played with my hair.
"I was um... the best... and I wanted to help protect you too!" I managed with many awkward silenced in my short sentence.
"That's not surprising...." he muttered returning to work.
"Huh?!?" Sakura fumed glaring at me intensely.
Tazuna then had an argument with one of the other workers on safety. After the workday was over we followed Tazuna into town to secure some food for dinner. The grocery store that we went into had barely any food whatsoever and some creepy guy tried to take Sakura's bag while Tazuna picked up what he needed in the store.
"Pervert!" she called kicking the man.
"Well... I wasn't expecting that..." Tazuna admitted as we walked back to his house, "Girl's don't fight like that around here..."
"Well, they should!" Sakura insisted just as there was a gentle tug at her behind, "Eh? Again?!?" turning around she faced a little kid with their hands placed in front of them begging for something, "Here!" Sakura smiled placing several candies into the small child's hand and they ran off beaming brightly.
"That's why we have to complete the bridge..." Tazuna sounded passionate, "Once it's complete the people will regain the courage that they one had long ago..."
Both Sakura and I looked troubled by that, "I'm going to go check on the guys if you don't mind..." I turned toward my pink haired teammate whom just nodded her head signalling me that it was okay.
