As we entered the room where the first exam was to take place, I quickly Noticed how crowded it was and how many older ninja there was in the room. I shivered slightly and looked at all the creepy looking ninja when I heard an annoying high pitched voice, "Sauske, Where've you been?" the voice asked and I saw a blonde girl with her long hair in a ponytail with her arms around Sauske, "You have no idea how much I was hoping you'd show up!!!" Sakura let out a low growl and a vein appeared on her forehead. She must have known the other girl. I hadn't met any of the other rookies thanks to the fact that I hadn't ever attended the academy.

"Get away from him you pig!!!!"

"Oh? they let you in too forehead?"

"Leave my forehead out of it!!!!"

The blond then stuck her tongue out at Sakura as more people suddenly appeared. First there was a heavier boy eating chips and a boy with his hair in a ponytail. Soon after three more young ninja walked toward us. A boy with a dog on his head, a boy whose face was almost completely obscured by his clothes, and and shy looking girl that I felt I could relate to in a way.

"Hi Naruto...!" The girl said with a smile looking at my comrade, but as soon as he took notice she quickly looked down and blushed.

Is she socially awkward like I am...? I had no interest in conversation and my anxiety was winning over, so I made no attempts at conversation, Maybe we can be friends some day...

Didn't know any of the other rookies, aside from the ones on my team and thus during their conversation I was completely lost. After what seemed like a while a boy with grey hair walked over to us, "You might want to cool it a bit... Being that you're the nine rookies..." his eyes passed over me obviously surprised by my presence, "I mean ten rookies..."

He then showed us his cards in which had information about the ninja that had come to the leaf in order to take the Chunin exams. Sauske picked the obvious choosing Gaara and Lee that he wanted to know more about. I could see Hinata, the shy girl, wince slightly as Kabuto mentioned Lee's teammates. Why? Soon after it looked almost like Naruto was shaking and nervous by the number of powerful competitors in which had gathered at that exam.

"Uh Naruto..." I placed my hand on his shoulder trying to comfort the blond, "I'm sure there's nothing to get too worried about. I bet Kabuto was just trying to cool you guys down..."

Naruto pointed at the other ninjas, "I'm going to beat all of you! Believe it!" he exclaimed.

I should've known...

Apparently Kabuto's ramblings had annoyed the the ninja of the hidden sound, which lead to him with broken glasses and getting sick on the exam room floor. We were then told to pick a number and find our seats. Our seats set up upon opposite sides of the room. Placing myself next to Kiba Inuzuka, the dog guy, I tried to mentally prepare myself for what was yet to come.

"It's time to begin!" the heavily scared proctor began with a smirk of sorts, "I'm Ibiki Morino your proctor and from this moment your worst enemy!" as people let out shocked gasps he continued, "There is to be no fighting among candidates without the permission of the proctor! Now listen up and I will give you the rules for your written exam!"

Without even having to look at my blond comrade I knew he was already bound to be exploding inside. Tests weren't really his thing and surely this test wasn't to be an easy one or to be taken lightly.

"Don't worry about this test I'm sure you'll do fine!" came Kiba's voice from nowhere awakening me from my thoughts, "You seem pretty cool considering you're on the same team as Naruto!"

Man... Why is dog boy talking to me??? My eyebrow twitched slightly, "I'm not worried at all!" I whisper yelled, "I'm more worried about my teammates than I am myself."

"Eyes front!" Ibiki commanded snapping a piece of white chalk to the board behind him, "There are a few rules you should be aware of! And no questions!" I wasn't really paying much attention to the rest of his speech as it seemed very long and boring. Surely he couldn't have said anything too important, right?

The tests were finally passed out at this point and I instantly scribbled my name at the top and glanced over the questions. I knew exactly how to figure all the questions out, but... That would be a lot of work I really didn't want to do. How troublesome... What to do? What to do? I pondered tapping my pencil on the table when I realized it. Upon closer examination weren't many of my competitors cheating? It seems that dog boy is using his pal Akamaru... Sneaking my hands underneath the table I formed a hand sign. In my hand, I formed a piece of wood that resembled an eraser and gently tossed it underneath the chair in front of me. The boy occupying the seat grabbed the 'eraser' from the floor and passed it back to me politely while I mouthed a thank you to him as I smirked. I'd seen all of his answers when he'd bent over, so now I didn't have to go through all of that work. A half-hour left... What should I do now....?

"That's it times up!" Ibiki called, "Time for the final question, but first... If you get this question wrong it means you'll spend the rest of your life as a Genin." the older man smirked as though nothing could be more amusing than that, "So you can leave now if you don't feel up to it, but do keep in mind that this decision will affect the rest of your team as well."

I shivered at that. Be a Genin for the rest of my life... I don't really care about things such as ranking, but what of my teammates. Do they feel the same way? Many of the other candidates raised their hands and vowed that they would pass the exam on their next try. Surely no one from my team will... Wait? Was Sakura about to raise her hand? And now Naruto?

Naruto raised his hand nervously and rose from his seat only to slam his hand onto the table with an enormous thud, "I'm not going to quit just like that! I don't quit and I don't run! Believe it! I don't care if I am a Genin for the rest of my life!!!" he shouted shocking nearly everyone in the exam room and I smiled I should've expected no less from him. With that, it seemed that many of the others had regained their confidence as well and no one else raised their hands.

"Congratulations!" Ibiki cheered making a closed eye smile, "You all pass!"

. . .

Just as Ibiki was finishing answering some of the other's questions there was a sudden crash and a woman burst through one of the windows using kunai to put a clearly handmade banner as her backdrop, "Alright Maggots!" she sneered, "I'll be your proctor for the second exam! I'm Anko Mitarashi! So follow me!" we all fell silent simply staring at the woman, "Hey!!! Ibiki you must be growing soft look at how many candidates are left!" the woman cried to our previous proctor looking and sounding annoyed.

"Perhaps they're just a better group than usual..."

"Whatever, meet at this spot tomorrow!" Anko said and we were all dismissed for the day.
