The Little Senju and the Forest of Death

Izumi's POV

I could hear the creepy slithering sounds of a giant snake devouring a bird whole as we stood waiting in front of what was known as the forest of death. The actual temperature of the air was comfortable, but something about that forest left an ominous presence, so that even I began to sweat at the prospect of going in there at all. As I looked around it seemed that all of my competitors felt the same way.

"They call it the forest of death for a reason!" Anko chuckled with a smile, "And soon enough you're going to find out why!"

Naruto made a strange face and imitated our proctor, "They call it the forest of death and soon enough you're going to find out why!! You're not going to scare me away!" my blond teammate boasted, "I can handle anything!"

"So..." Anko drew out the 'o', "Looks like we've got ourselves a tough guy!" without as much as a change in her expression she flung a kunai at Naruto that didn't stop before hurdling through a girl's long, black hair. She then appeared behind Naruto, "You're not afraid are you?" Anko taunted wiping the blood that dripped from the cut on his face that she had created, "Tough guys like you leave their blood all over this forest!!!"

Just then the black haired girl appeared hovering over Anko with the kunai in her elongated tongue, "Just returning your knife..." she said in perhaps the most creepy way possible.

"Why thank you grass ninja..." even Anko seemed a bit cautious of her, "You know I only really recommend you stand this close to me if you wish to reach a premature end."

As the girl stalked away from Anko I felt a shiver course through me, Why am I so terrified...? Her chakra... It's familiar... not in a good way.... It's so gross.... it feels like that person is actually evil....

Anko walked back to her place in front of the fence and spoke, "now before we begin this test I have something to hand out to you all." she pulled some papers from her coat, "Just a standard consent form. Before the test all of you are going to have to read over this form and then sign it." someone asked her why to which she said, "Some of you won't make it back from this test. so I have to get your consent to that risk. Otherwise it would be my responsibility!" Anko laughed, "Now I'll be explaining what you'll be doing on this test." I was actually listening to the explanation this time as she wasn't nearly as boring to listen to and this did have to do with life and death, so it would probably be best if I actually knew what I was doing, "First you should know that this test will require each and every one of your survival skills. There are forty four locked entrance gates with a forest inside and a locked tower at the center. The test involves an anything goes battle in which your goal is to get your hands on these two scrolls. A heaven scroll and an earth scroll. There are 26 teams taking place in this test, so half of the teams will be given an earth scroll and the other half will be given a heaven scroll. I will be giving each team one of the scrolls. To pass the test you must bring both a heaven and an earth scroll to the tower within five days."

That means that at least half of us will fail.... I thought with a hand to my face, But we've made it this far, so I know we can do it. We have to!

We were then dismissed to fill out our forms and then from behind a curtained booth obtain our scrolls. I sat along the edge up against the tree considering the test I was about to take part in. My eyes quickly scanned the form for important details and I signed my name at the bottom. As the four of us approached the booth we were all equally quiet even as they handed us our heaven scroll and marched to our gate to wait for the test to start.

That silence wouldn't last long as Naruto began spouting nonsense as soon as we made it to our gate, "Come one ninja!" he shouted punching the air, "I'll give it back twice as hard! Believe it!"
