Izumi's POV

My eyes... I moaned in my head bringing a hand to my face and I felt something wrapped around my closed eyes, Bandages? I pulled them from my eyes and opened my lids and was met with a bleary image that slowly became clearer and clearer. There was yelling and did I hear Uchiha? Was he fighting someone? That's right the preliminaries... I suddenly realized my whereabouts.

"Your awake." Kakashi Sensei noted shooting a concerned look in my direction, "Nice job, winning your match earlier!" he congratulated helping me to my feet, "Probably won't be able to stand on your own for awhile, so be careful and that dojutsu... Don't use it again until you've completely mastered it or your likely to be in more pain than you are already."

"Right..." I mumbled avoiding his eyes, "How is Uchiha doing?" I asked leaning against the balcony railing to see Sasuke pummeling his opponent with the final blow. A kick to the man's stomach, "Okay...?"

Sasuke huffed for breath and wiped away the blood that leaked from his mouth, "I'm declaring this match over!" the proctor said, "As the winner of this preliminary round Sauske Uchiha!"

"Way to go!!!!" Naruto cried leaning over the balcony precariously.

"What're you--?!?" I squealed as Kakashi Sensei hefted me over his shoulder and poofed down below to stop Sasuke from falling.

"Not bad..." he complimented Sasuke and shooed away the medical ninja that tried to take Sasuke to the infirmary, "Okay, you two are coming with me!" he then whispered to Sasuke, "We've got to seal that curse mark!"

"Before the preliminaries are over?!?" Sasuke and I both interjected, "I want to see who gets to go on to the finals!"

"Forget it!"

"But--!"

"And don't even think of arguing!" Kakashi Sensei insisted, "If we leave it any longer... who knows? It might be too late!" he continued, "And we need to check out your eyes, Izumi. There might have been serious damage since you tried to use the Seikatsu twice in one day when you haven't even mastered it yet."Sasuke rose to his feet as our sensei carried me and we walked to our destination.

. . .

Sasuke's POV

As Kakashi prepared to seal my curse mark Izumi sat in a corner with bandages covering her eyes again, "Is there any reason why I need to be here?" she questioned making a bored expression.

"I still have to check out your eyes, so just be patient..."Kakashi sighed as he finished preparing the sealing jutsu, "It'll be over quickly. You won't feel a thing, you ready?" his attention was now directed at me. To which I simply nodded. He quickly made some hand signs, "Curse sealing!" he placed a hand to my neck. Instantly I writhed in pain and huffed for breath before passing out on the floor, "Now, next time the curse mark acts up this should keep it in check, but remember this curse sealing jutsu is only as strong as you are. It gets its strength from your will. If that will ever weakens or you begin to doubt yourself the curse will be unleashed in all its fury."

Kakashi's POV

"Hmm... Amazing!" I chuckled, "Too tired to even argue..."

"Kakashi Sensei..." Izumi mumbled sounding somewhat concerned.

"Yes, I know! I'll get to you in a moment..."

"No, that's not it..." a bit of fear was now mixed in, "This chakra... It's--!"

"My, My..." Orochimaru's voice was heard, "How you've grown!" the ninja appeared from behind a thick pillar, "To think you're strong enough to perform the curse sealing jutsu." his voice was taunting, "Long time no see... Kakashi!" he spoke as I craned my neck to look at him.

"Orochimaru..."

"No offense Kakashi..." he continued, "But I didn't come to see you... My business is with that boy behind you and I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't have given that girl a curse mark as well..." Izumi tensed up at his words.

"What do you want with my students?" I asked defensively.

"Ha... You've acquired something new, haven't you?" he refrained from answering me, "How I envy your good fortune... I don't believe you had it the last time we met, did you? The gift! The Sharingan in your left eye!" he smirked, "It's only fair that I should want it too! The Uchiha power..."

"What's your game?"

"The sound village that everyone's curious about... It's mine. You see I created it."  he answered simply hands in his pockets, "I think you understand without my saying anymore."

"You and your wild eyed ambitions..." I scoffed, "Stop! Don't come any closer!" I snarled bending down so that my arms was in the right position to charge my lightening blade, "I don't care if you are one of the sannin! I swear... Take one more step toward my students and one of us will die here!" blue sparks buzzed from my hand and a crackling noise filled the air.

Orochimaru began to chuckle evilly as I tried to stand my ground, "Poor Kakashi... All your noble efforts all in vain! Do you really believe that seal will hold? Do you think you can keep him From what he truly desires? You know I'm right!" he taunted yet again, "A heart like his that hungers for only one thing will not be denied. No matter what obstacles you put in his path... He's an avenger, isn't he?"

"You think you can take advantage of that?" I kept up my jutsu, "Not Sasuke!"

"You can't stop it... at some point he will come to me in search of power..." he started to walk away, but stopped abruptly, "Unless you truly meant to kill me. Now's your chance. Take it... If you dare..."

My eyes grew wide as realization set in. There was no way I could kill Orochimaru. There was no doubt in my mind that I would be the one that would end up dead. The chakra stopped flowing from my hand as I stood there shaking in the same position. One of us will die here... I must have been out of my mind! I replayed the events in my head, Time to get out of here...

"He's gone..." Izumi sighed in relief, "That man..." she mumbled rising blindly to her feet, "He's always terrified me..." Had she met Orochimaru before the exam? "His chakra is so.... Dark."

"Let's get you two out of here and to the hospital..." I muttered carrying my two students out of that place and to the doctors that would help them heal and get them to the final round of the chunin exams.
