Izumi's POV

Before Naruto fell to his death I finally found my body again and caught the boy from the air landing on a tree branch not far away. It was then that I started to regret the fact that I'd never tried to learn any medical ninjutsu as my mother had wanted me to before she'd passed on. There was nothing I could do about that now. All that mattered was making sure that Naruto was as safe as he could be for the moment. Sakura and Sasuke stood there too shocked to move.

"Sasuke!" I called causing the ravenette to be pulled from his daze to look at me, "I can't do anything more right now! I'm almost out of chakra, so I'm leaving this up to you and Sakura while I take Naruto somewhere safe!" I still wasn't sure if he'd understood as I made my way with the blond out cold in my arms, "I'm so dumb...." I grumbled to myself as I settled myself in the cavern made from an old tree's roots, "We're talking about Orochimaru.... There's no way Sauske even has a chance... I was so caught up in my emotions that I left those two alone with that man..." even as I griped to myself I placed a wet rag to Naruto's forehead. Though I knew no medical ninjutsu I could offer basic first aid at the very least, "I just have to hope that he'll leave them alive."

. . .

Just as I'd hoped both my teammates were still alive if only barely, but still they hadn't been killed in cold blood as I had expected. Now Sakura and I were the only ones left conscious leaving us to care for our injured teammates, "He bit his neck?!?" I barely knew how to respond upon hearing the news from Sakura, That can only mean...and sure enough on the back of Sauske's neck was a curse mark, "If I had stayed with you this never would've happened..." I hung my head in mourning. It didn't look good for Sauske. His chances of survival were one in ten at best, but there was still a chance that he'd make it out of this alive.

Sakura's POV

"Izumi..." I touched one of the girl's hands gently in an attempt to comfort her, "It's not your fault. You had to take care of Naruto. If I had been stronger I could've been more help to all of you, but I will try my best to help you care for these two."

"I guess so..." she didn't lift her head for a moment, but when she did it looked as though she'd gained a new energy, "I'm going to go get some water and look for some food, so watch over those two for awhile." Izumi pointed first to Naruto and then to Sauske and left me alone with the two boys.

It looks like it's up to me for the time being! I thought feeling unusually confident as I watched over my teammates waiting for Izumi to return with supplies. It had already grown light and still Izumi was nowhere to be found. A bit of worry grew in the pit of my stomach, but I pushed it away if only for a moment. As the day wore on it grew difficult for me to stay awake and I found myself nodding off as the day only reached noon. I soon longed for Izumi's return as the boy's were still unconscious and offered no conversation.

My eyes had been closed for who knows how long when Naruto suddenly stretched and yawned, "Oh wow!" he exclaimed happily, "I slept really great!"

"Naruto!" Izumi and I breathed in unison staring at our blond comrade.

Sasuke then sat up as well removing the rag from his forehead with little effort.

"Sasuke!"

"Uchiha!"

"Did you two take care of us this whole time?" Sasuke asked looking at me in an almost thankful way.

"Thanks Sakura... Izumi!" Naruto jumped in, "We're all better thanks to you guys!"

Tears formed in my eyes, which I quickly wiped away trying to seem strong, "I'm just glad you're both okay!" There was rustling of the grass just behind the four of us, "Orochimaru!" I gasped looking straight at the black-haired man's peeling face. He turned into a snake and headed straight for my now conversing teammates. I tried desperately to warn them, but found that no words would escape my lips. Just as the snake was about to devour them I returned to reality finding that all of it had merely been a dream. Another rustling... Surely I wasn't dreaming this time...? I drew a kunai from my pouch and held it out in front of me gritting my teeth when.... A squirrel appeared from the brush.

Izumi's POV

"How far away is that stream..." I mumbled to myself as I jumped from branch to branch, "I don't want to leave Sakura alone for too long... Especially with those two in such a condition..." The sound of water wasn't too far off now, but I heard something else as well. Spinning around I saw the older Hyuga lecturing the Ino-Shika-Cho trio. So he's a pompous bastard too... I thought to myself returning to my course toward the sound of water, "Water is more important..." I decided and started to return when I sensed an unpleasant chakra along with my teammates and the taijutsu user's chakra, "It can't be..." I said aloud, but as much as I didn't want to believe it... it was true

"He's late..." Tenten commented as she stood next to Neji at the spot that the three comrades had decided to meet, "He's never late." she placed her hands on her hips, "Lee is... Well fanatical about being on time." a look of concern flashed across the brown-haired girl's face, "Maybe he ran into the enemy..."

"I'm sure he's alright..." Neji smirked, but it faded quickly, "But still... we better go find him..."

"You're wrong...!" I huffed stopping the two before they could take off, "My name is Izumi Senju and I know where your teammate is... He's trying to help Sakura, but there's no way he can last long... Unless we hurry he's probably going to be in a sorry state real soon..." My heart throbbed in my chest as I spoke to these two who's names I'd barely heard once.

I've finally been able to write things recently. It's so great and I can't wait until I'm caught up on chapters to post them! My mental health has been super bad until late, but now I feel super light and inspired! Ah, I have so many ideas for this story again and I can't wait to share them with all of you. I just can't express how truly amazing I feel right now! I'll probably release a couple more chapters tonight since I don't have any other pressing obligations until tomorrow, so until next time!
