Hanako's POV

I scurried up to my room avoiding the eyes that followed me up the stairs. Was no one in this household on my side? My father was bound to be up here giving me another talk soon. This was a daily ordeal for me. I pranked someone with my genjutsu and my father telling me off. It's not like I was actually hurting anyone... Physically. Maybe I traumatized a few people and gave them endless nightmares, but no big deal, right? That was very apparently not right...

"Hanako!" here we go again, "Was that girl lying?" more than angry he always seemed disappointed in me. Like the Suzuki could do much better than me, which wasn't exactly untrue. Who would want some needy, attention grabbing girl to be their only heiress, "Were you getting in trouble again?"

"No, Sir..." I mumbled in resignation as my eyes lowered to my feet. How many times could I let this man down? "Senju just so happened to come across me practicing for my exam, so she gave me a few pointers on my jutsu." It was a lie, but I really didn't want to see that heartbreaking frown. That seemed to be the only expression he made around me...

"Okay, but if you see her again don't get her into any trouble, alright?" he didn't question me as much as he often did when I returned this late, "That girl has had a rough life, so I don't want you making things more difficult for her...."

I tried to ask Father what he'd meant, but he only insisted that it wasn't his story to tell.

Izumi's POV

"I'm home!" I called into the empty house. My aunt was still busy working, which was to be expected considering it was her first official day as hokage, "I guess this isn't much different than before, hmm?" I collapsed onto the new couch before my hunger drove me to the kitchen in search of something to eat, "It's going to be strange sleeping in a new place though..."

I prepared myself some instant ramen before wandering off to my new bedroom. It really wasn't much different than my previous space. A bit bigger perhaps. A twin bed was pressed against one wall and opposite it was a dull colored dresser. There were still many, many boxes that needed to be unpacked. I pulled apart the seal of one box and removed a small photo frame and stared at the picture within it for a moment. There was a woman with midnight blue hair and silver eyes in the photo along with a man with pale brown hair and eyes and between them was a small girl with her blue hair in pigtails. The girl's eyes were closed and a wide grin was strung across her face as she tightly squeezed the adults' hands. I frowned ever so slightly as I placed the frame face down on my dresser before finishing my ramen and collapsing on my bed. It was going to be a long night.

. . .

"Argh!!!" I groaned as I landed from my bed directly onto the hard, wood floor of my bedroom, "My funny bone..." the doorbell went off a second time as I scrambled to my feet while rubbing my sore arm before checking the door, "Who is it and why in the world are you ringing my doorbell at three in the bloody morning?!?" I rubbed away the leftover sleep in my eyes to reveal a wide awake Hanako Suzuki on the opposite side of the front door, "What're you doing here, Hanako...?" I sighed opening the door a bit farther. I hadn't gained a stalker had I? (Another one?)

"Training." she answered simply taking a tight hold on my wrist and dragging me out of the house while still wearing pajamas, "I really would like pointers from you about my exam coming up and you seem like you could be helpful."

"But, I told you yesterday that I never went to the academy, so I wouldn't know what to expect of your exam..." I whined trying to pull myself away, but alas this girl was stronger than she looked and I was still dang tired, "And why three in the morning?"

"Reasons."

Third POV

The two girls stood at a small training field without a sign of any other living thing within their radius. Even the sun didn't watch as the two came to stop near the field's center. Hanako donned her usual outfit, while Izumi was clothed in an overly large, grey t-shirt and matching sweatpants. The blue-haired girl let out a wide yawn as she stretched her arms above her head.

"Okay, what exactly is it that you thought I could help you with?" Izumi mumbled as she looked up at the moon and stars that were still present in the sky, "I have to meet up with Naruto and Sakura at the hospital at some point too..."

"I wrote down the techniques that I need to practice still." Hanako offered up a small slip of paper.

"How long were you thinking on this...? What would you have done if I had refused you?"

. . .

"I helped you out, are you happy now?" the Senju glanced at the sun that was gently rising up along the horizon, "I'm going to be late if I don't get going soon and those two won't shut up if that happens..."

Fingers were once again wrapped around Izumi's wrist causing her to turn curtly towards the smaller girl, "Promise, you'll help me out again..." Hanako seemed almost in tears leaving the blue-haired female unsure what the best response was, "You met my father yesterday, right?" there was a short pause, "He always acts that way, but really he just thinks that I can do better and... He's right. I just don't want to disappoint him anymore.... I want him to be proud of me and be glad that I'm the heiress to the Suzuki clan."

Izumi's expression softened as she turned back around lightly ruffling the younger's hair, "Alright, I understand." she gave Hanako a small smile before turning back towards her destination, "I'll try my best to help you, although I'm not very confident in that, so try your best too. If I'm not on any missions at the time I'll also be sure to attend your graduation ceremony, okay?"

Hanako's expression brightened and she nodded exuberantly, "Okay!"
