The Little Senju Comes to the Rescue

Izumi's POV

I quickly fled the stadium with Naruto, Sakura, Shikamaru, and Pakun just behind me. Hokage... my worry for the old man increased with every step. After all he was facing Orochimaru, Don't die on me... A familiar chakra was suddenly felt from relatively far away, This is Senju chakra... I thought examining my surroundings, but there's only me and few others with chakra like this and none of them are in the village right now... I made a hand sign and with a puff of white smoke a wood clone appeared next to me, "Please, check out the source of that chakra." I told my clone to which she nodded and leapt away back toward the arena. The others talked about the current situation,while I kept my eyes focused on the terrain in front of me.

"This way!" Pakun ordered jumping off to the right.

"Right!" we all called following the headband wearing hound.

"Pakun..." I whispered to our dog captain, "We're being..." I took note of the large number of sound ninja that were currently hot on our heels.

"I know..." he responded as we changed course slightly again, "This way." we continued to follow him as he kept his lead, "It's going to be awhile until we catch up to them if we keep up at this pace..." Pakun grumbled seriously referencing Sauske and the sand genin, and worse yet... You guys hurry it up!"

"What is it?!?" Sakura questioned at the sudden urgency in the dog's voice

"There are two squads behind us... That's eight ninja." the hound bit his lip as we continued forwards, "Wait..." he listened for a moment before speaking again, "That's nine ninja!"

Pakun's POV

I dove down to the ground with my squad following close behind me as I thought momentarily about what our next course of action would be, "Hmm..." I hummed softly to myself as the others stared at me.

"What's the deal?!?" Naruto growled throwing up his arms, "Why're we stopping?!?"

"Zip it and follow me!" I ordered sternly turning back my head just enough so I could lock eyes with the blond, "We're going back over our footprints." I explained as calmly as was possible given the situation, "If we pull this off our footprints will seem to disappear." I flipped backwards into the tree as the genin started to take my lead and Naruto gave another complaint, "At the very least it'll help buy us some time." This isn't good... "Be prepared for an ambush... They're definitely back on our trail."

"I'll be the decoy." Izumi put in suddenly as the other's conversed on the possibility of using a diversion in order to slow down the ninja, "I know the risk and I'm willing to take it so--!"

"No." Shikamaru said more forcefully that was probably necessary, "I'm the only one who can do it..." he stated looking downcast.

"Shikamaru!"

"Why does it have to be you?!?"

Shikamaru's POV

Izumi glared at me questioning me with her eyes as I explained myself, "It's better than all of us being wiped out, right?" I tried to sound at least somewhat positive as the other genin stared at me, "Besides, I'm the only one that has a chance of pulling this off decoy act..." I admitted turning around to go back in the direction we'd came, "I mean after all shadow possession jutsu was invented as a delay tactic." Izumi bit her lip as she knew I was right, "Anyway, I'll catch up with you later! Go on get going!"

The others nodded finally accepting my decision, "We're counting on you, Shikamaru!" Naruto added as I left them to their own task. Izumi still wasn't content with my decision as she continued on with the others

"I can't believe I managed to get away..." I mumbled to myself as I squatted at the base of a tree staring up at the puffy white clouds that dotted the pure blue sky, "oops!" I appeared from the shadows as the sound ninja froze locked in my shadow possession jutsu, "Sorry, I was supposed to be the guy who didn't want to get involved, I guess I'm not quite what you expected, am I?"

Izumi's POV

That idiot! I growled in my head as I left my fist clenched at my side as I grit my teeth, He could've at least let one of my wood clones go with him...! There would've been a greater chance of him getting caught then too... Dang it! I froze temporarily as I felt the presence of the clone I'd created earlier disappear, "She must've found where that chakra was coming from..." my eyes widened a fraction of an inch as the memory of the clone came back to me, "Of course it's those two..." Dang it, Orochimaru... I thought bitterly as I continued on with the others, I can't worry about that right now though... I have to focus on the mission at hand.

"Is something wrong?" Naruto and Sakura questioned as my expression returned to normal, "What did your clone find?"

"It's nothing..." I shook my head slightly, "Just focus on the mission." I said in as forceful a voice as I could muster, "We're not too far now, right Pakun?" I turned my head to look at the little dog.

"Yeah, and they've stopped moving!" Pakun informed hoping carefully from branch to branch.

Sasuke's POV

A crackling filled my palm as I thought of my older brother and the one thing that mattered in my life. There's no way that I was going to die before I killed that one person. It had to be me. The sound of that demon filled my ears as I prepared to strike him with my chidori. We leapt for each other at the same moment and in one swift movement my hand connected with Gaara's beast arm leaving a pile of golden sand in my wake. Laughter... My sharingan eyes widened as the red head laid on his back chuckling darkly.

"I see so that's what is...!" an impossible putrid grin formed on his face as he rose to his feet. My eyes returned to normal, "Now, it's clear to me why I've been looking forward to this..." he continued face down, "This pain... Such a victory will show me what it means to be truly alive!"

I writhed in pain as the curse mark spread across my body its black marks spreading across my skin. My body shook in both pain and fear as it never had before. What was I going to do now? There's noway I could die there before I'd killed that person... I wrapped my fingers around my throbbing neck as Gaara prepared to attack me while I was down. Suddenly two familiar people appeared in front of me... A male kicked the red-haired boy, while a female slashed at him with a wooden sword.

"Hey Uchiha...!" Izumi sang with a smirk, "You don't mind if I save your sorry arse again... Do you, you pompous bastard?"
