The Little Senju and the Bet

Tsunade's POV

So this is little Izu.... She's a lot bigger than she was the last time I saw her... She was still small as ever, but that was mostly because of thin she was. In fact, the girl was actually pretty tall for her age. Her once short hair was extremely long flowing well past her waist. Izumi's silver eyes held a mature sort of stare that shouldn't have been possible that she could possess. What had she seen? What had happened since I left the village?

"Izu, It's been a long time." I couldn't help the smile that came to my face as I looked at my adorable, little niece, while she continued frowning, "How are your parents?"

Silence...

"Dead." the word was spoken devoid of emotion. I blinked in shock. Both my brothers were dead? Was she being serious? No signs of humor were etched across her serious expression.

"What?" I muttered as my face fell, "I'm sorry, I didn't..."

"You didn't know! You think I don't get that?!?" Izu barked losing her normally good handle on her emotions, "You know I was almost excited to see you again... How naive of me. I should've known better. You can't even remember the dang promise can you?" she asked accusingly a harsh glare rested on my face as she rose from her seat, "I guess it wasn't important to you, but I was still expecting you to visit sometimes..."

"Izu!" it was too late as she had already exited the tavern.

Naruto's POV

I growled as I stared at the blonde woman that sat in front of me. The situation was beyond me, but she'd definitely done something to upset Izumi, "I'll go after her." I replied, but Pervy-Sage stopped me, "Why?!?"

"She won't go far." he said sternly as I slumped back to my seat, "Just give her some time to cool off, okay?"

I crossed my arms, but gave a hesitant nod returning my attention to Tsunade. This woman really pisses me off... This woman is Izumi's aunt and yet they haven't seen each other in such a long time and she didn't even realize that Izumi's parents had passed away?

"Okay, wait a second!" I shouted slamming my fist on the table, "I haven't finished yet!" my rage was focused on the female sannin, "There's something about this I'm not getting!!!" I jabbed my thumb towards my chest, "So, this guy... You know he's the one that murdered the hokage and what have you done about it?!?" one problem at a time, "He's a sannin. He's one of you guys!" I clenched my teeth as Pervy-Sage focused on his cards, "Why is he still walking around?!? Why haven't you caught him?!?" I paused for a moment, "Oh yeah! And what's up with the deal about her being the fifth hokage?!?" I pointed at the disinterested woman.

"Naruto." the white-haired man stated calmly not looking away from his current task, "Sit down and shut up."

"Absolutely not!"

"Sit down." he ordered leaving no room for further argument. I stared at him silently for a moment before obeying. The adults didn't talk for a moment just focusing on their game of cards, "I'll say it once again." my teacher addressed Tsunade, "The leaf village has made its decision. They have chosen you to be the fifth hokage." another silence, "So, what's your answer?"

Izumi's POV

"I'm such an idiot..." I griped to myself as I stuffed my hands in the front pockets of my pants, "It's not her fault about what happened." My eyes turned up toward the night sky. It was dark already. Stars twinkled in the pitch blackness of the endless sky. I let out a heavy sigh, "Guess I should head back before Naruto does something reckless again..."

I walked back slowly not particularly ready for the apology that I was going to have to give that woman. Surely, there had to be a good reason why she had broken her promise with me. And anyway, how did I walk so far in such a short period of time...? By the time I was finally outside the tavern the air had grown chilly. So much so that I had to rub my exposed forearms to retain some of the warmth that was being lost to the cold air. I sighed again taking a short glance inside.
