23 ~ every step of the way

You and Draco were sitting in the drawing room. You didn't know why you had to be here. You were pulled out of your beds and told to sit down there.

'Do you-'

'Not a clue.' You said.

You looked at the door. Draco grabbed your hand. You looked at him.

'I didn't even say good morning yet.'

You smiled. You and Draco had been dating for a few weeks now. It had been great. You weren't as far as sleeping in one bed yet, but it was cool.

'Good morning.' You said before kissing him.

He smiled after you pulled back.

'I'm so happy with you.' He smiled while moving some hair out of your face.

He kissed you shortly again. You wanted to say something but the door opened. You two moved your hands of the table. Draco kept holding your hand under the table.

Your parents walked in. Also Draco's.. they sat down opposite of you two. Draco could hear that you were nervous. You were always nervous around your parents.

'You guys got up late. I guess last night you two stayed up.. again?' Your father asked.

'We were just chatting and didn't mind the time.. we'll make sure to go to bed on time tonight.' You said.

Draco rubbed the top of your hand with his thumb to calm you down a little.

'That's not why we called you here.' Narcissa said.

It would be a waste of time if they did.

'We need you two to prepare for today.' Lucius said. 'The dark lord needs to speak to you two.'

You didn't even think about that anymore. You still needed to get a task. You were guessing it's about that.

'Alright.' You said.

You and Draco got up and walked upstairs. Your mother put the same black dress on your bed that you wore last time. You put it on and took a deep breath.

You looked in the mirror. You looked at your arm. Were you going to be able to live up to what you had to be? Why were you suddenly doubting this?

You were trapped into your thoughts. You were pulled out of it when you felt someone moved all your hair over one shoulder. You saw draco and smiled. He kissed your neck shortly and wrapped his arms around you.

'You look so beautiful in that.' He smiled.

'Stop it.' You laughed. 'Have I told you that suit you sometimes wear looks amazing on you?'

'You didn't. But say that again, it works well on my ego.'

You laughed and grabbed the hands which he laid around you. You looked back into the mirror.

'Are you okay?' Draco asked.

'I'm suddenly doubting this whole thing.' You sighed.

'You can't turn back anymore.' Draco said.

'I know. That's why I should stop thinking about this.' You said.

Draco let you go and allowed you to turn around and hug him. Draco wrapped his arms around you. You smiled when you laid your head against his shoulder.

'I'll be going through this with you. You'll never be alone in this.' Draco spoke.

'I know.' You said. 'And that makes it a little easier to do this. I'll get used to it.'

Draco kissed your head and held you a little tighter. You felt so safe and comfortable in his arms. You could hug and kiss him all day if you'd have the chance.

'We have to go.'

'No, we don't.' You sighed.

'Yes, we do.'

Draco let you go, but you refused to stop hugging him. Draco laughed.

'Are you comfortable?' He asked.

'Yeah.' You just said.

Draco hugged you again just to please you.

'We really do have to go now Y/N.'
You sighed and let draco go. He let you go again but when you stepped back and pulled you a little closer to give you a passionate kiss. You smiled at him after he pulled back.

Draco grabbed your hand and you walked downstairs like that. The closer you came to the drawing room, the more nervous you became.

You entered the drawing room. Your parents and his were already there. You quickly sat down. They didn't speak but Narcissa passed you a smile. You smiled back at her.

It didn't take long before the door opened. Voldemort and his snake walked in.

'Good afternoon, my lord.' You and draco said, after which your parents said the same.

Voldemort sat down at the head of the table.

'I'm glad to see you all here. Good to see you didn't change your mind.. Y/N.'

'Of course not.. my lord.'

'Good.' He just said.

'My wand and Harry Potters are in some way connected. He is protected by someone. Someone I want to have out of the way.. Albus Dumbledore.' Voldemort said.

It was true. Dumbledore was Harry's biggest protector.

'I cannot get into Hogwarts easily and most of the death eaters can't either. That's why I need you two.'

Voldemort got up again. He looked at you two. You and draco both didn't speak.

'Inside the room of requirement at Hogwarts is a cabinet. A vanishing cabinet. It has a pair in borgin and burkes. If you two manage to mend the cabinet at Hogwarts, my followers will be able to travel through the other cabinet into Hogwarts.'

That was your task? That was it? Seriously? Why had you been stressing out? You could mend a vanishing cabinet. You could do that.

'But that's not all. To prove your dedication, I need you two to do something else for me.. I need you two to kill.. Albus Dumbledore.'

You tried your hardest to keep a straight face. Kill Dumbledore? You knew he was serious. You had to kill someone. You could've seen it coming. You tried to stay calm but you were completely freaking out inside.

'I'll give you more details later. I've got some.. things to arrange.' He said before he left.

Narcissa looked at you two. Worry filling her face. You were mid panic attack but tried to stay calm right there.

You couldn't kill anyone. You really couldn't. That wasn't you.. you had to prove yourself. You knew you had to. People were talking back, but you couldn't hear them.

'Right Y/N?' Draco said.

'Yeah.' You said right away, not even knowing what he said.

'Good. I'm glad you two are so determined.' Your father said.

Your parents left. You were left alone in the drawing room. Draco laid his hand on your shoulder. You looked at him.

'Are you okay?'

'I can't do this.' You choked. 'I ca- I just..'

You were staring to hyperventialte as the stress took over you.

'Calm down, Y/N.' Draco said as he pulled you against him. 'You don't have to do this alone. I'm with you. We both don't want this but we have no choice now. You need to stay calm.'

'This is not who I am, Draco. Why.. I'm so stupid. I shouldn't have done this.. on the other hand it has been a very good choice until now.'

Draco kissed you to help calm you down. He cupped your face and forced you to look at him.

'We are going to go through this together. I'll be with you every step of the way, I promise.'
