How does one say that everything they've ever wanted was finally in their life? How does a boy so traumatized by his past find himself with the largest smile as he looked through the store looking for an appropriate tux?
Virgil didn't have a single idea how to answer those questions.
He stood there staring at the plain black tux and he scoffed shaking my head. He was not one for formal wear. Not even when he was younger... Oh god, he just realized, he was going to have to come out as a prince. It didn't even hit him until now. I mean they all know of Virgil being a prince but the kingdom doesn't. What was he supposed to say that he... What if they hate him? What if they think he's a monster?
WHAT IF JANUS COMES BACK?!
"Virgil?" He looked back to see Patton standing there and he smiled. "You don't have to worry, Kiddo. Everything will work out as it should. "Virgil nodded as he reached out for the tux only to freeze in thought. "Let's maybe not do that?"
"What why?" Patton laughed as he pulled Virgil away causing the dragon prince to frown as Patton lead him over to this mirror. "Patton?"
"What do you see when you look in this mirror?" Not this shit. "Language. Now answer the question please." Virgil rolled his eyes but still looked anyway. To be totally honest, he wasn't really happy. His white hair and red eyes although a reminder he was no longer cursed brought back to many memories he didn't want to deal with. "Kiddo?"
"What's the point in this Patton?" The younger druid sighed as he ran a hand through his blonde hair.
"It's not important right now, Kiddo. You'll learn the lesson soon enough but for now lets take a break." Virgil frowned as he looked away from the mirror.
"The wedding is only a few months away Patton and I haven't even picked a tux." Virgil was stressing out. To be totally honest he was trying to distract himself from the truth of the matter. He wasn't stressed out because of the wedding. He was stressed out because of Roman.
"Is he still..." Virgil only nodded. He doesn't know what's going on with that man. One moment he's happy and smiling and the next Roman's angry and storming off. It's entirely random too. Like the other day they were just relaxing in the library when Virgil picked up on Roman's annoyance just out of the blue. It was odd. The annoyance turned into frustration and next he knew Roman was gone. Plus the guy has been disappearing randomly too. Did Roman not know that Virgil could tell when Roman lied to him? He always knew. "I'm sure whatever it is..."
"What if he's just like Janus?" Virgil suddenly felt weak as the question came out. All his fears surfaced to the top and Virgil had to suppress a whimper. "What if... What if the Roman I fell for was a trick? What if he really is like Janus?"
"Roman is nothing like Deceit. You can't compare Deceit to anyone not even Janus..." Virgil's eyes narrowed as Patton walked over to him and pulled him into a hug. "I promise you there is a good reason why Roman is so... different. You have nothing to worry about."
"I don't think I could take it again, Patton." Virgil shivered as he pushed those memories away. "I don't think I could. I've given Roman... everything. What if... what if he... The worst part in all of this is he doesn't even know what happened before the great forest."
"Kiddo..."
"I'm going to get married Patton and he doesn't even know about my father... OR MY MOTHER!"
"VIRGIL!" Virgil jumped as Patton grabbed the man shoulders roughly in an attempt catch his attention. "Roman isn't marrying you because of your family or your past. He doesn't care about any of that. He loves you."
