(Tw~Anxiety, suicidal thoughts.)

He's dead. Virgil laid there sobbing uncontrollably as he shook and rocked himself. He knew it. He was dead. Roman had to be. It's been a week and he's felt nothing of his love... his rider... his mate. God, Remus was right. Virgil didn't even notice but... It made sense. Virgil could feel that tug at him. That pain deep in his heart, that tore at him completely. He had chosen Roman as his mate. Clearly... He was going to marry the guy but he never actually thought about it.

Demons are odd creatures. When they choose a mate... it isn't the same as getting married. It's incredibly similar to a dragon choosing a rider but the bond you form from it is so much stronger. You aren't just tying each other together through magic no... You are literally binding your souls. Virgil had unwittingly bound himself 110% to his rider... and he lost him before they could even say I do.

The pain was excruciating. You thought a dragon losing their rider was bad... no... no, this was so much worse. The very THOUGHT that Virgil had lost his made twisted his insides in such a way it felt like he was rotting from the inside out. He needed Roman. But Roman was gone...

Whatever had happened to him... Virgil would never know. He couldn't take it. He couldn't stand being alone.

But... he was... quite literally alone.

They said Janus ran away. They said that Janus had somehow managed to fly off on his dragon and never came back. They said Janus left too. So they separated the other two to keep them from plotting anything. Virgil was in complete and total agony he couldn't even move let alone plot. He just wanted Roman back.

Remus tried to help him. When the guards were dragging Virgil away Remus tried to fight them off. Virgil was screaming, far too weak from his pain to pull himself free. His fire wasn't even working. He was in pain. That's all he knew... was pain.

The moment they literally threw him in the room he dragged himself off to the side and curled up shaking. His breathing went ragged as his thoughts spiraled. He tried. He tried so fucking hard to reach through the bond and feel his love. Just something anything but... nothing. All he felt was that unending pain.

He just wanted it all to end.

He didn't know how Aimon did it. When Aimon lost Sophie he went on fighting doing all he could to protect the humans, even after they had taken the one person he loved... Virgil couldn't even find the will to keep breathing. Maybe this was it... Maybe this was the delayed effect. All the pain Aimon felt crashing into him amplifying his own. He just wanted Roman to come and whisk him away to that better place he's always heard about but... could never go.

He was far too tired to even try and fight it anymore. All he could picture was his cave... his home back in Mt. Diablo... That big cave opening that let him see the entire kingdom of Edawin. That beautiful scenery... and very long dro...

"Virgil, hun... please, I'm ok."  Virgil broke down completely as his heart just shattered. The pain skyrocketed in him making him mumble out broken pleads of death and piece. His own mind was tormenting him now. "I'm ok. I'm ok, love. Please..."

"STOP! JUST STOP!" Virgil screamed out as he gripped his air, eyes a bright and painfilled red. He couldn't take it. He couldn't take it at all. He just wanted it all to...

Blistering white-hot heat tore at his wrist so suddenly tears spilled from his eyes from the pain. Images of Roman sitting there screaming out as he clutched his shirt, this man burning his wrist as Roman bit his lip to stop himself from crying. Roman smiled through the pain as he slowly forced himself to look up eyes bright purple making Virgil's heart skip a beat.

"There you go." Roman melted seeing his love through the bond and Virgil just broke down. "I'm ok, Love. I'm alive. I'm ok. Please... feel me." Elvire quickly let go letting Roman's hand drop but the vision of his love never faded. Virgil slowly pushed himself up gripping his wrist tightly as he took everything in. His eyes shot wide as this rush of love, worry, and pain swirled around him making his tears fall even more. "I'm ok. I promise, Virgil. I'm ok."

"Roman?" Roman laughed as he looked up seeing El's concerned look.

"He felt me. He felt me... he-he knows." Roman turned back, focussing in again on the bond and beamed tiredly at the vision of Virgil hugging himself in relief. "He knows I'm alive. He felt me."

"R-Roman?" Roman's eyes flashed as he tensed hearing the shaky voice in his head. He knew it was Virgil. He knew but it was still a bit startling for him. "R-Ro?"

"I'm ok, Stormcloud. I promise. I love you so much." Virgil smiled as he let his eyes slip shut, sighing softly as he relaxed. "I am so sorry I scared you so much. But Virgil... please... please don't ever think about..." Virgil frowned as Roman choked a bit, guilt crashing through on both sides of the bond. "I love you far too much to ever want you to go through that sort of pain. I'm so so sorry, my love."

"I love you too, Princey."

"Roman, we have to go." Roman snapped out of his mind looking up to see El staring off into the distance. "Something's going on. I can feel unrest in the forest. We need to get moving."

"Right." Roman struggled just to get up onto his feet while El helped keep him steady. "The sooner we get to them the better. Plus... I can't scare Virgil anymore. He's... I can't let anything else happen."

"He's alive." Virgil laughed in pure relief as this burst of protectiveness filled his gut. Roman was alive. He... He could feel him. He saw him. He heard him. Roman was alive. Virgil melted into the array of feelings Roman was sending over, as if actively filling the link with nothing but calming, loving, and supportive emotions. God, he loved him so much. Virgil pushed himself up and forced himself to move over to the window despite how dizzy he was from his attack. His love was out there doing all he could to help save them all. Virgil had to do his part from here. "I'll be waiting, Princey."
