Running towards the street where the ring has settled I check my comms. The line between my suit and Steve's team is severed which means they must be engaged somewhere, maybe they were encountering something of similar importance. "Check for Tony's suit." As if on cue I'm connected into Tony's feed. His battle as already begun.
"Tony? What are you seeing."
"Right now we're fighting a giant squidward..." I have no idea what he could possibly be talking about.
"What's a squidward?" I ask.
"Oh, right..." There's a moment of quiet before he calls out to Bruce... "Next time I see you I'll explain." I turn a corner and then stop mesmerized by the mention of Bruce.
"Wait a minute... Tony, did you say Bruce is with you."
"Yeah. He fell from the sky, we also have some wizards here and... another brief second. The kid just dropped in." I assume he means the spider-kid.
"I'm coming to help."
"Evelyn you don't have to involve yourself in this." There's a brief sound of a scuffle and a repulsor blast. Looking up I see the ship still hovering above the city. "I have a suit for you, if you truly want it." I take a moment. I have no doubt that Shuri's suit can get me up there.
I stare up in awe, "I brought my own suit thanks." The thought barely leaves my head before I'm able to push myself away from the ground. Shuri and I had collaborated to give it a cross between Tony's armor and T'Challa's favorite stealth suit. It fits more comfortably and could process just about any situation. As I blast past skyscrapers and go up in altitude another layer to my helmet comes down across my face. It gives me my vitals and directs oxygen directly into my breathing space. I level out when I reach the flying donut. There doesn't seem to be much harm to it, no clear defense or attack systems.
"Tony..." I turn back down the ground intending to relay the information but something is flying at me. I fall backwards out of its way. The alien makes his way back to his ship with both the kid and the... wizard I guess, back to the ship.
The kid hangs on for dear life being dragged up through the air towards the ship. He comes across comms. "Uhh, Mr. Stark? I'm being beamed up!"
"I've got ya kid!" I say in response. I dive and drive hard across the beam latching onto him and bringing him out of its grasp. I place him on the ship and turn back slamming through the opening behind our invader. Slipping into the shadows I whisper, "Tony I got the kid. He's outside the ship, but it's going to get a little harder to breathe in a moment.
I don't get an answer from him. Hopefully he's to preoccupied getting the kid back to the ground.
"You on board Eve?" Tony asks, I can hear the wind resistance through his mic.
"Yeah."
"Is the wizard okay?"
"He's alive as far as I can tell." I say peeking from my spot.
"Look up." He says next. I do as he tells me and see Tony peering down at me. I bend slightly at the knees and with one powerful leap and the aid of the suit I'm able to join him. He eyes me but then he turns away from me fully. His helmet comes off so I follow in his style.
He starts to talk and at first I think he's directing it at me. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just think we might have to push our 8:30 res." My shoulders fall, he must be talking to Pepper. I turn away giving him that moment with his fiancée. I turn back to our subject trying to pretend I'm not thinking about Bucky. If I could have a moment with him right now what would I even say. I touch my stomach briefly feeling the phantom of something deep within, something I wish that I had. "Honey, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I don't know what to say." My attention is brought back to Tony. I watch his face collapse in sadness as it's clear he's lost his signal. "She'll never forgive me for this one."
