"Hey mom" I greet once I'm home

"Hey honey. Dakota came and left this letter behind" she says, handing me a blue and black envelope

"What did she say?" I ask, because this does not sound good

"She just told me to give it to you and then she left. Didn't even wait for me to reply or protest" she shrugs

Definitely doesn't sound good

"I'll be back" I take the envelope and run to her house. Afterall she doesn't live far away, just some blocks down the road.

I ring the doorbell once I'm infront of her house and her dad opens up

"Where is she?" I ask, trembling, scared of what I might hear

"She left"

Oh my God. Oh my God. This can't be happening, I turn around and start walking to my house. This can't be happening. She wouldn't do this to me. She wouldn't leave without saying anything to me. I sit down on a bench in a park I subconsciously walked to and look at the letter with glassy eyes and open it with trembling fingers.

I unfold it and gather courage as I start to read

A Letter to Jason

I'm not gonna start by saying 'Dear Jason' , that's so old fashioned.

I laugh at that through my tears.

I left. That doesn't make sense, I know. But there's nothing I could do about it. I've been living a lie my whole life, and after finding out the truth, staying there, being there, suffocated me. And you have to understand. I know I'm being selfish, but I couldn't live there if I wasn't going to be happy. And I also couldn't pull you with me to my destination. I'm sorry this is how things had to end, when I finally thought we'll be together, I guess not all love stories end with a happily ever after. I'm really sorry. And I hope you can forgive me someday. Any day. But know one thing, you'll always have a special place in my heart. Always

I wipe the tears from my eyes and stand up. She didn't have any right to hurt me like this. But I guess she's right, I have to understand afterall. I guess this is where it all comes to an end
