He feels a twinge of guilt. He has no words for her. Her silent stare into his eyes indicates that she's waiting, that she has him. She believes that she can convince him.
"You can't make me love me." He says simply and her eyes flare.
"I know I can't but how would you feel if I died because of it?" She says quickly.
"I'd join you." He says, his eyes are dark.
She wants to face palm herself. She can't fix him. But she still wants to convince him.
"If I asked you to live for me then would you?" She asked, trying a different approach.
"Live for you?" He asks himself. "I'm not sure. I suppose I could but I wouldn't like it."
She curses. "You don't have to like it. All you have to do is do it." She says in a more playful tone.
"I'd want you to live for me because if you can't live for yourself than do it for me. Live for the people who want you to live even if you don't want to." She says and his past lover enters the scene.
"I thought we had this conversation already." She says, her arms crossed. "I can't believe it has been years and you're having to go through this talk."
He blushes and she shakes her head and says hello to the other girl.
The girl smiles and is intrigued, suddenly, there is a glow to the two and she knows that there's a deeper connection him and the past lover.
"Did you forget? You're not allowed to die on me. You're not allowed to give up. When no one believes in you, not even yourself, I do. I believe you." She scolds him.
"How dare you forget the one thing that I engraved into your soul. How dare you forget." She says and the other girl is amused to see his reaction.
"I forgot." He shrugs. "People forget things."
The one who is scolding him changes her tone. It's lighter and softer but she doesn't move from where she stands. "It's the closest thing that we have to a promise. I stay alive because of you and you stay alive because of me. We live and never give up on each other."
Her voice is strong and he tries to fight it, the other girl realizes and is in awe about the strength she sees in them.
"Listen, I'll never tell you the three words again but you know I do. And I know you do. And isn't that enough to keep you for falling into this pattern again?"
"The mind is a dangerous place." He say as looks at her.
"And thanks for reminding me but it's such a hard promise to keep." He mutters.
"As an oath breaker, I know it is." She says to him.
"But,
I'm alive because of you. Never forget."
