Before I know it we are kissing each other, not a daydream. We sit there like that for what feels like seconds before I quickly pull away. I look at the floor before looking over at Cyril. His face is red and I am pretty sure mine is the same way. We eat our food and slowly talk about anything but what had just happened. As I look over at the door I take the last bite of my food and watch a man walk in. Something about him seems off but I push it to the back of my head.
"Ready to go?"
I nod, "Yup."
We throw away our trash and walk over to his motorcycle. When I realize that we are being followed I sigh before doing anything. I grab Cyril's arm and stop him. When he turns to ask me what I am doing I decide that what I am about to do is the best thing I can think of doing right now. Before he can say anything I pull him down and kiss him. His arms wrap around my waist as he pulls me closer to him. When the people following us keep walking by, not bothering to make sure we are the people they want, I pull away. Thankfully the people around us helped to drag their attention away from us for the most part.
He looks down at me, "You know... If you wanted to kiss me again you could have just asked."
"We were being followed. Some people find a public display of affection very awkward and don't look at the people."
"There were other ways to handle that and you chose to kiss me."
I hear someone clear their throat and turn to see Jem standing there, his mouth twitching as he fights back a smile, "We got worried about you two."
I push away from Cyril, "Sorry. We need to get back though, we don't know who they were but it isn't a good sign."
I walk past them and get to the motorcycle, "Hayden?"
I look back at them, "Later. Now you two go back in the car that Jem came in and I'll take the motorcycle. That way they don't get who they want."
I toss Cyril his helmet before putting mine on and getting on the bike. Why take the motorcycle instead of letting Cyril, gives me time alone to think. Also means that the ride back isn't with Jem who will try to bring up what happened. I don't know how much he saw and I really don't want to find out.
I start it and look up at Cyril when he comes over to me, Jem waiting at the car for him, "Just be careful."
I smirk, "I will be. I don't get into that much trouble."
He smirks at me, "Sure... See you back at the hotel."
I nod and watch him walk away before driving off. I get to the hotel first and hurry up the steps. When I get into the room I stop and stare at the envelope on the door. I grab it and walk in. I turn the envelope over and stare at the name on it in cursive. Precious Rose is written in red, the handwriting belonging to someone who couldn't have written it. She is dead and still in her grave, at least that is what everyone has been telling me.
"Hayden, what's that?"
I look up at the others as they come over to me, I show them the envelope, "Let's see if it's a clue shall we."
Cyril grabs my wrist when I go to open it, "And what happens if it's a trick?"
I shrug my shoulder, "I think they would have made a move by now if they wanted me dead."
I open the envelope and everyone holds their breath, tense up, or takes a step back. Well, everyone but Cyril. Once it is open I pull out the letter and open it. I look at the three words that have been typed on the paper. I narrow my eyes at the words as I think about why they look so familiar.
