Chapter 29: Don't You Dare!

When we hit a bump Cyril grunts, "Sorry."

He closes his eyes, "Not your fault..."

"Keep those eyes open, buddy," Liam says.

Cyril opens them again and looks at me, "I'm fine."

I bite my lips as a tear rolls down my cheek, "Say that one more time, and I am going to punch you. You are not fine."

He smirks, "Anything to get you... To stop crying."

"Reyna, how much longer?"

"We are almost there."

I look at Cyril and watch his eyes close, "Cyril! Don't you dare!"

He mutters something that I can't make out and opens them again. They aren't as wide as they could be but it is better than them being closed. When we hit another bump and he grunts again. I apologize again even though it isn't my fault. He looks at me and grabs a hold of my wrist.

"That date... Might have to wait... A little longer."

"As long as I get it I can wait."

He gives me a small smile, "You sure?"

I laugh a little, "Yeah... Better late than never."

We stop and I watch his eyes close. The van's doors fly open and before I can do anything I am being pushed out of the way. When they get Cyril out I jump out and follow them. Not wanting to be too far away from him at the moment. We get to the infirmary and I don't stop. Nope, not going to leave him.

A nurse comes over and gets in my way, "You can't go back there with them."

"But-"

"I'm sorry but you can't go back there."

I go to say something but get stopped, "Hayden!"

I turn around to see Madison coming over to me, "Maddie... Tell them-"

"I can't and you should get cleaned up."

After a moment of arguing she gets me to walk with her so I can get cleaned up. She ends up taking me back to my living area. I shower as fast as I can and get into clean clothes. When I am done she just sighs and walks back with me. We sit in the waiting room and I bounce my leg as I lean my elbows on them. My hands are clasped together as I wait. When Jem comes in I don't move, chewing on my lip as I stare off into space.

He sits down next to me and puts a hand on mine, "Hey... It's going to be alright."

I look at him, "You don't know that for sure."

He smirks, "Of course I do... He has a pretty girl waiting for him, he isn't going to leave you."

After a few, I end up getting up and pacing around. Thinking over everything in my head. I knew that someone was more than likely to get hurt at the warehouses but I wanted to be wrong. I wanted to pull off another miracle with no injuries or minor ones. Nothing this serious. After pacing around for a while I go back to sitting down like I was before.

"Hayden... Do you want a coffee or to go get some food?"

I look up to see Sarah standing there, I wonder when they got here. I know that they were told what happened but I don't remember seeing them walk in. To be honest, I wasn't really paying attention so it isn't that shocking. Considering the news she got she doesn't seem to be that worried. I mean, you come to expect that call every day but still.

"Hayden?"

I look at her, "I'm fine."

She frowns and sits down next to me, "You know... This reminds me of the time he fell out of that tree... You were so worried-"
