Madison gives me a small smile, "Yup..." she looks at Cyril, "So, where do you plan on taking my sister out for your first date?"
I look at Reyna and she just shakes her head as she sits down, eating her breakfast. I look back at Madison and watch her glance at me. She knows that I know she was lying about everything being fine. She better have one hell of a reason to not tell me what is going on at the moment.
"We are going out for dinner."
Madison nods before looking at me, "Cute." I watch her lean against the counter, "Haydie..."
"We heard most of it. Who got away and what is the bigger problem?"
I watch her look at her hands and sigh, "Maybe we should wait for later... After all, you two have your first date today and I don't want you two to be worrying about anything."
Before I can say anything Cyril speaks, "You are the one who has the choice Madison. We will understand what you pick and won't argue about it."
I go to say something but he kicks my foot, I glare at him and he looks back at me. Fine, I'll leave it alone for now but he didn't have to kick my foot. He could have just interrupted me and changed the subject. Even then, I would turn it back to what Madison isn't telling us.
I let out a sigh, "Yeah."
Madison pushes herself up and nods at us, "Good. I have to get more information before I tell you what is going on anyway.
"I would rather have all the right facts than tell you something that might not be true," we say at the same time.
I smirk, even Cyril and Reyna know her so well that they even say it at the same time, "Well, look at that."
I get up and limp to the door, Madison quickly comes over to me and grabs my arm, "Hayden. Be careful."
I look at her, "I will, besides it is hard to get into this place unless you know it."
"They do."
I look over her shoulder and turn around as she lets my arm go, "Besides... You know where to find me."
Without saying another word I walk out and close the door behind me. I make my way through the tunnels and to the small park. I sit down on a bench and pull out my phone. I send a message to Jem to warn him that Madison will be seeing him for some information. I put my phone away and look up, watching the few kids who live here with their parents run around. There are only maybe ten kids, all the other members had left to live a normal life. They have been here and will be here for maybe the rest of their life.
I smile when James Miller comes up to me. He is only five years old and he likes me, "Hey, Jamie. How has my little spy been?"
He runs up to me and I put him on my lap. Keeping him from any of my injuries so I don't get hurt. It would be easy to push it off as something else. But I don't like lying to him. He is one of the few people I still kept close to me after that day. Only because I have been unsuccessful with keeping him as far away from me as I can.
He looks at me with a huge smile on his face, "Mama said you got hurt and wouldn't be able to play with me."
I give him a small smile, "I'm fine. Have you been good for your mom?"
He nods his head and starts to talk about what he has been doing since I had been gone. I smile, he is one of the few children here who aren't actually scared of me. It takes a few before the other four children who like me come over to me. I smile at them and let Jamie off of my lap. They sit on the grass in front of me and beg me to tell them a story. I tell them one, getting halfway through before looking up when someone clears their throat.
