The sound of a gun going off fills the silence before I scream out in pain. On the bright side, it won't be that bad. Correction, it shouldn't be that bad. Hopefully, shooting the pendant worked. Otherwise, I am going to end up dead and we don't need that because someone still has to get Cyril out of here.
"Hayden!"
I fall to the ground, making sure that the gun slides to Cyril as Jane comes closer to me, anger burning in her eyes, "Why do you have to make things so complicated?"
I look up at her, "Because... That's all I know."
She steps on my leg and I cry out in pain, "I should have done this earlier," she aims her gun at me.
"Get away from her!"
Jane looks back and I watch Cyril get up and point his gun. Not missing a beat he takes the shot and she goes down. She may not be dead yet but she is out of the way for now. He kicks her gun away from her and takes out the other man before getting the ropes untied and putting the gun in the back of his pants. He comes over to my side and looks at my leg.
"Why didn't you tell me your whole plan?"
"Because it needed to seem real," he quickly looks around and grabs some rags before ripping them.
"A hint would have been nice."
I watch his hands tremble and laugh a little, "I was hoping... You would rip your shirt off instead... Ow!"
"If you would hold still it wouldn't hurt so bad." I go to move and he looks at me, "Hold still."
I stop moving and he finishes tying the rags around the wound to help slow the bleeding. He puts my arm around his shoulder and we slowly make our way to the door. When he opens it he leans me against the wall so he can look out to make sure it is clear. I look back at Jane to see her slowly moving to her gun. She stops after a moment and lays there near a table.
Cyril comes back over to me and I shake my head, "We can't just leave her... She needs help too."
"I can't carry both of you."
I look at him, "Then take her and come back for me."
"Hayden-"
"I'll be fine."
He looks back at her before looking into my eyes, "Fine."
He hands me the gun before running over to her and taking hers. I can't just leave her here. Sure she put us both through hell but she needs help. She deserves to get help. She might not want it from me but she is going to get it. Plus, there is something else I need to take care of that I don't want Cyril to worry about.
He picks her up and comes over to me and looks at me, I give him a small smile, "I will be right here."
"You better."
I watch him quickly walk out. I wait until I can't hear his footsteps anymore. I look around when I hear another sound that I dread. The ticking noise coming from the table Jane had crawled to. I stand up and use the wall to walk over there. I put my hands on the table near me so I can walk to the one I need to look at. It tips over and I fall, gasping in pain as I land on my leg. I try to get up but after falling two times I decide to crawl the rest of the way there. I just want to take a nap after this. When I get there I move the white fabric draped over it and stare at the cause of the beeping sound. The numbers counting down from around twenty minutes.
I turn around and try to get up. Every time I fall I push myself back up or crawl a little way before trying to get up again, ignoring my body's protests and the part of me that just wants to lay down on the floor and take a nap. I get to the door and out into the hallway just as I reach ten seconds in my head. I see Cyril appear around the corner and coming to get me. Before he can get to me the room explodes and fills with fire and smoke. Cyril gets over to me after he gets up and helps me up.
