I watch as Cyril tries to move the chair closer to me but he stops after getting nowhere. I close my eyes to see if that will help with the pounding in my head but it doesn't. I open my eyes again and look around to see what I can notice. I can hear someone saying something but it is too far away. It almost sounds like Jem, the only way it can be him is if my earpiece is nearby and that is what I am hearing.
I slowly move and sit up, "Cyril..."
"Hey, look at me."
I look at his face, his eyes scanning over my face, "I'm sorry."
He gives me a small smile, "It's okay. This isn't your fault. I'm happy you are sitting up though."
"And why is that?"
"You might not have a concussion."
"I should have known it was a trap."
Cyril goes to say something but the door opens and someone walks in. When she comes over to me I frown. Her face is still covered, making it hard to tell who she is. The longer I stare at her the more I feel like I know her. Something about her gray eyes is familiar. It isn't Madison but someone who was around her. Maybe that is how she knew the nickname and everything else.
She crouches down in front of me, "Look at you. Still trying to figure out who I am."
That voice, "I know you aren't Madison. She's dead and yet you pretended to be her."
She slaps me, "Shut up." I look back at her as she pats my check before getting back up, "You still think it over. Maybe it will come to you."
She walks over to Cyril and puts a hand on his shoulder as she stands behind him, "What do you want?"
She chuckles a little, "Nice to see you too. It has been forever since I have seen the two of you."
I watch Cyril as he tries to think of who it is. Arriving at the same conclusion I have. She was someone close to Madison, but who is she exactly. When neither of us figures it out or says anything she lets out a sigh and comes walking back over to me. She goes to grab me but I move away from her grasp and Cyril moves in his chair.
"Don't you dare touch her."
The woman straightens up and looks between the two of us, "So cute. A relationship is hard to keep in the job you two have."
"We aren't a couple," I spit at her.
She looks at Cyril, "I don't think that is true."
"She's my best friend. That hasn't changed."
My heart breaks a little at his words but I push them to the back of my mind. I'd say the same thing though so it shouldn't hurt as much as it did. Now is not the time to be thinking about that. Without a clear, level head we won't be getting out of here alive. When we get out of this, which we will, then I can think about it more. Maybe even talk to Cyril about this.
The woman walks over to me again, "Sure. To me, it is clear that you have feelings for her. So your feelings for her have finally changed."
"They haven't."
"You know what. You are right. They haven't, they have just gotten stronger."
She grabs my arm before I can move away and pulls me up, Cyril strains against the ropes, "Let her go!"
The woman just laughs, "We should get to know each other again. You are going to be here for a while."
As she starts to drag me away I try to get out of her grip. The more I struggle the tighter her grip on my arm grips. I listen to Cyril scream at her to let me go and when the door closes I close my eyes. I take a deep breath and open them when she throws me to the floor. I land on my left shoulder and roll over so I am on my back. I look up at the ceiling and listen.
