I look down at the ground, "Yeah?"
"What makes you think you can get out of here without one of us following you or realizing what you are doing?"
"Nothing... Just hoped that I could."
"Let us help you... That's what we are here for."
"I can't."
"Why?"
I turn to look at him, "Cyril, please... I can't lose anyone else I care about."
"Too bad."
I shake my head, "No. You are not coming."
I watch the others slowly stand behind Cyril, "Oh, we're coming. Wherever you go we go."
The others nod their heads in agreement behind him, saying yeah as I look at them. Half of me is happy that they did this. The other half isn't so happy about it. As I look at them I sigh, there is no way I will be able to get out of here without a fight. I look back at Cyril and he looks back at me, no sign of backing down in his eyes.
"Fine... But we do it my way."
I explain it to them before we head out to the dock. When we get there I nod to the others and they make their way to set up a perimeter and to check out the areas I told them to. Cyril sticks with me and Jem says in the back of the car to let us know what we need to. Josh is there to make a quick getaway with him if it is needed.
Cyril and I make our way to the boathouse, checking everything that might hold a clue as we go. Really hoping that we find some. And you know, not walk into a trap. I really don't need that to happen. I stop and take the right side of the door as Cyril takes the left.
He presses his earpiece, "Anything?"
"No, the only heat signatures are you and Hayden," Jem responds.
"Well, here goes nothing."
With our guns in hand, I move and kick the door down. I am the first to go in and look around. No one is in here that I can see. I walk to the center, it is lit up by a light. On the ground is a small piece of paper and my heart stops. The smiling emoji is the only thing on it. I turn around just as Jem starts to speak.
"Get out! It's a trap."
Before we can do anything we are surrounded and end up standing back to back, "Should have seen that coming."
"If you didn't then I say it's okay that I didn't," I say to Cyril as we move to keep an eye on everyone surrounding us.
"Well... Let's have some fun."
I smirk, "Sounds good to me," I pull up my gun and shoot, quickly moving onto the next one.
"Run over there to the crates! I'll cover you."
I don't try to argue and run to the crates. Anyone who gets in my way or raises a gun at me is shot down by Cyril or me. I get there and change out my clip before popping back up to cover Cyril. When he gets over to the crates on the opposite side I go down and grab my other gun. As I pop up to shoot back at them I hear Liam speak over the comms.
"On our way. Think you can handle it a little longer?"
I pop down to change out my clip before popping back up and pressing the button, "No! Make sure Jem and Josh are good and get out of here."
"We can't leave you two behind," Macy responds.
"We will be right behind you as soon as we can get out of here," Cyril says.
"But-"
I cut Clara off, "That is an order."
"We will be back if you need help," David says to stop others from arguing about what we told them.
I crouch back down for cover as I curse under my breath and put my guns back in their holsters. I knew I should have brought more ammo with me. I grab the little knives I have on me and start throwing them. Each one hitting their mark and taking down one only to be replaced by two. When I am out I look over to Cyril to see him grabbing his last gun. I grab my knife and take a deep breath.
"Here goes nothing," I say as I let my breath out and race to some to take them down.
To get past some I go over to them and swing around until I am on their shoulders. Just before we hit the floor I jump off and land, grabbing their gun and going until I get over to Cyril. He looks at me with a frown on his face. We look into each other's eyes, knowing that it's only a matter of time before we are without any way to defend ourselves. He nods at me and I nod back. I hand him the gun and he covers me as I go back out and take out those I can.
He runs out to my side after a while and when we get separated I try to get back to him. When something hits my back I fall to the floor. I am pulled back up before I can do anything and someone holds me close to them. They raise their arm and shoot the gun in their hand. Everyone stops what they are doing and looks at us. I watch Cyril's face fall as he looks over at me, the feeling of cold metal on the side of my head makes my heart sink.
"Put down your gun."
Cyril looks at the woman holding me, me, then at her again. He better not listen to her. He does and I am going to never let him hear the end of it. I can think of how to get out of this mess in numerous ways, all not involving him putting his gun down. Only because if he does that then we are screwed.
He puts his hand up and slowly lowers to the ground, putting his gun on the ground, "No-"
She tightens her arm around my neck, stopping me from finishing my sentence, "Now... Let's go shall we."
I watch someone walk up behind Cyril and hit his head. Before I can do anything to get out of the woman's grip, something hits my head and the world goes black. The darkness surrounding me doesn't go away for a while. I slowly come to and can tell that my hands and feet are tied with a rope. My head throbs and feels like it has its own beat. Not the best feeling in the world but at least I am alive, right?
"Hayden... Please open your eyes."
I let out a groan as I roll onto my back. I quickly decide that it was a mistake as my arms scream out in pain and roll onto my left side. The ground is cold and when I open my eyes it takes a moment to see everything around me. I am on the ground and Cyril is in front of me, tied to a chair. He lets out a sigh of relief and closes his eyes. He opens them again and looks at me.
