Chapter 26: Let's Go Back To Fighting

It takes another three days before it is confirmed what happened to Jenna and Jamie. Nikole hasn't woken up yet but she is doing better. With it being my turn to keep an eye on her I sit in the chair and look at the files again. I have focused on the same ones for so long I can almost recite them from memory. I close my eyes and pinch the bridge of my nose, the throbbing headache not helping me focus.

The door opens and I look up, Madison smiles at me, "Go shower and get some rest... You look like you could use it."

I look at the clock, "You still have twenty minutes."

She shrugs her shoulders, "I think Reyna needs a break from me anyway."

I smile, "Everyone needs a break from us."

I get up and stretch a little, looking back at Nikole, "What happened between the two of you?"

I look at Madison, "She had a misunderstanding and we got into an argument... Didn't end very well when she decided to share some things I wish she didn't."

Madison nods, "Didn't happen to deal with that night I took you home did it?"

"That, you shall never know."

I get to the door and stop, turning around when I hear something different. I go to Nikole's side and Madison raises an eyebrow at me. Just then Nikole opens her eyes. She goes to get up but I stop her. I shake my head, she will regret it.

"I wouldn't move," Madison says.

Nikole looks over to her before looking back at me, "Either it's the medication... Or the notorious Madison Baker is alive."

I smirk and walk out to get Liam. He goes into the room without wasting a second and I go up. I take a shower and when I get out I get into some pajamas. I sit down on the bed and look at the files I tossed on it before getting in the shower not that long ago. Just as I am about to pick them up there is a knock at the door. I look at them for a second before looking over to the door.

I get up and open it, expecting to see Cyril but to my surprise, it isn't him, "Reyna?"

She is biting her nails and looks at me, "Can we talk?"

I slowly nod my head, opening the door more so she can come in, "Sure..."

She sits down and I lean against the wall, "I feel like Madison is thinking we made a mistake."

I shake my head, "No... You two haven't been as close though. This have something to do with that big surprise?"

"Yes... I realized I couldn't tell her until all of this is over but when I see her I just want to blurt it out so I can see her face light up..."

I smile, "Just tell her you have something you want to tell her but the time isn't right."

She looks at me, "I would but you should know how Madison would react to that."

"I do know if you tell her you really want to tell her but don't want to ruin the surprise and explain why you think it isn't the right time she will understand."

Reyna lets out a sigh and looks at the floor, "Thanks..."

"No problem."

She looks at me for a moment, "Do you mind if I ask a totally random question?"

"No."

"Did you and Madison really get matching tattoos?"

I put my hand on my hip out of habit, "Yes... Right after we turned eighteen we got it done."
