With shaking hands, I unlock the balcony door and stumble to the railing. I look at the sun, it is barely rising. The light is flooding some areas, shining off of the white snow. I run my hand through my hair as I take a shaky breath in. When I let it out I watch it slowly dissipate, the small cloud the only way to show just how cold it is. When I start to get cold I wrap my arms around myself. I want to go in but I don't, not yet.

I feel a blanket wrap around me, "It's cold out here."

I look at the sky, "Yeah..."

"You know... Cyril wanted to come out and get you but told me it would be better if I did."

"What made him say that?"

"We are sisters... We can talk about almost anything with each other that we can't talk about with others."

I don't look at Madison as she leans against the railing next to me, "He would understand a little better."

"True, but he thought it would be better if you talked to me and maybe I know what you are talking about... Maybe I can help you through it too."

I wait and watch the movement of an animal and sigh, "I was fine."

"But something brought it back."

I bite my lip, "Yeah..."

She lets out a small laugh, "When I got back and saw you I was worried. Cyril was a mess but you were worse. I made him sit down and tell me everything that happened. He told me you made sure to get the worse of it, not wanting him to get hurt."

"Someone had to get us out of there."

"Both of you did it."

We stay there, talking about what I felt like until I was done, "So... This is what it feels like. All those times you had a breakup or something like that and I just listened to you, only talking when you wanted me to."

Madison laughs, "It works. I think you doing that helped me a lot..." she nudges my arm, "And I am now a master at the listening part."

I smile, "You still have a long way to go, young padawan."

"Hey!"

After a moment we walk in and I get changed before heading down to have breakfast. As we sit there we make sure the T.V. is on so we can listen to the news. So far there hasn't been anything that might help us but at least we know what will be going on when we get back home. Madison and Reyna make sure that they have everything they need before going. Madison stops at the door and looks at me.

"Make some sugar cookies or something while we are gone." She smiles at me mischievously, "And don't have too much fun."

She walks out before I can say anything and I shrug my shoulders as I walk into the kitchen, getting what I need, "Haven't had those for a while."

I look up at Cyril as I pull my hair into a ponytail, "Not true, I made some-"

"The last time Madison was 'alive' which was a while ago."

I frown, he isn't wrong. The only reason I made them was for her. She loved them, others only got some because I always made extras for them and Madison turned it into a tradition of sorts. After she "died" I had no real reason to make them. I turn around and start measuring everything out. I turn away from Cyril when I start to mix more together.

"Hey."

"You can't see, it's a secret."

I quickly add in the small amount of cinnamon before he can look at it, slipping it into the cupboard when he is looking in the bowl to see if he can tell what I added into it. When he can't figure it out I make him mix the dry ingredients with the wet ones as I get stuff out for them to cool on.
