When the wedding finally starts I take my place and watch with a small smile on my face. I am happy that Madison was finally able to find someone that she would spend the rest of her life with. By the time we are all eating is when I start to hate being the friend of honor for Madison. As my parents finish their speech everyone gets real quiet and looks at me.
When I shake my head a couple of people shout out at me, "Speech! Come on, we want to hear from the friend of honor."
I frown as I stand up, "Here goes nothing... To be honest this was a surprise to me. Madison left it out, to be fair I should have seen it coming. We have been inseparable since we were born and always said that we would be each other's maid of honor, or in this case friend of honor. Despite having a solid relationship, like normal siblings we fought. However, I have more memories of us giggling, having fun together, and sharing secrets.
"And to know that she has finally found someone to spend the rest of her life with fills me with joy. Knowing that she has someone to be by her side when I can't be, makes it easier to let her go, I will always be her big sister and worry about her. So to end this before it gets too long, I hope you two have the best life together. May your love be modern enough to survive the times but old-fashioned enough to last forever," I pick up my glass and raise it with a small smile on my face when I look at the two of them, "To Madison and Reyna."
Everyone claps as I sit down and I watch Madison wipe her eyes. After a few people slowly make their way to the dance floor I stay where I am. Madison has never been one to follow tradition so I wasn't surprised by how tonight had gone. After Madison and Reyna danced, they did one with our parents. When Cyril comes over to me I look up at him after placing my cup on the table.
I stand up and he grabs my hand kissing the back of it, "Dance with me?"
His lips brush the back of my hand while he looks at me, I bite my lip to stop a smile from spreading across my face, "Why not."
We get to the dance floor just as I'll Leave You Words. I don't like to admit it but I know the song like the back of my hand and love it. Cyril mutters something about this being our song now, since out of all the songs that had to play when we started dancing, it played.
He smiles at me, "That speech was nice."
"I knew I should have done something else."
He looks at me, "You wouldn't have. I know you well enough to know that."
I look over to Reyna and Madison, "True..."
"Every word came from the heart."
"True... If it doesn't last, feel like helping me hide a body?"
He laughs at me, "No. How did your mom manage to get you in a dress?"
I smirk, "Maybe I thought I would be nice and wear it."
He shakes his head, "She called you by your full name didn't she?"
"I don't think that matters now."
When I get done dancing with Cyril, Reyna takes my hand, "Thanks."
I cock my head to the side, "For what?"
"The speech... I think that is the closest I will get to your approval."
I give her a genuine smile, "You already have my approval. I was going to introduce you to her before everything happened to be honest."
She smiles back at me, "She told me that you told her you found someone she might like."
I shrug my shoulder, "She needs someone like you. Someone who will stick by her side and pick her up when I can't."
