 "i want to hang out with michael." rachel tells me, browsing through the too-expensive, too little pieces of clothing. i grunt.

"luke said they'd be busy until tonight. i guess they are a serious band." i shrug, forgetting that they would tour the country after this trip.

aw! we wouldn't get to see them after the vacation ended..

"do you think we'll keep in touch with them after this trip?" i say, picking up a bra. or shirt. im not entirely sure at this point.

"um... i don't know about me, but you and luke have gone on like thirty dates... so you guys will. maybe." rachel holds a skirt to her long legs. i wave it off.

"thirty dates my ass. we're friends and he's cool but..."

"but?"

"just i don't- hm- im not looking for a bae right now and that's all." she scoffs at my 'honest' answer.

"you guys would be so cute. cuter than me and michael. and he totally likes you."

"rach, you can't ship yourself and m- wait... you think he likes me?!" i exclaim softly, covering my mouth with my hand.

what i find is that girls can have boys as best friends and NO ONE needs to fall in love or that shit. it's perfectly okay and not awkward.

but, if luke were to like-like me (which i doubt) then the whole system would be ruined.

"i mean, maybe i just want it to happen so bad that i see him doing all these lovey-dovey things bUt.." she trails off with a longing sigh.

"no, i don't think so. i think it's just like 'oh i like your videos oh i like you' type thing." i try to impersonate an australian male. she snorts at me.

"besides, i totally put him in the friendzone earlier today at the farmers market." i giggle, taking out my phone to check my texts.

on cognito, i invite michael over to our hotel so him and rachel can have a cute movie marathon !! michael says yes very quickly after i sent it and he tells me they'll be over at ten.
