Chapter 37 – Kayla’s POV
“How could you say that to your own son?” I asked staring at him in disbelief.
“You have no right to interfere in this matter which does not include you might I add.” Kian’s father glared down at me. Damn him for being so tall.
“No this doesn’t include me but I won’t just sit there while you go ahead making assumptions about Kian.” My voice started to rise.
“Make assumptions? I know this is the truth so there’s no point in arguing with me and do not forget that I’m being kind enough to let you stay here.” His voice got louder to match mine.
“I couldn’t care less at the moment. I will not just stand there while you treat you son like a pile of crap, he’s more than what you think of him and you’ll realize that if you give him a chance. And By the way Jessica wasn’t crying because Kian upset her but was crying because she thinks YOU don’t pay her any attention.” I glared right back at him.
“I don’t need you to tell me what t-“ He started off once again.
“I wasn’t finished yet, Kian does so much to make you feel proud of him but you never see that. You’re blinded by your high expectations. So what if Kian doesn’t want to take over your god damn company? He’s amazing at what he does and he can make you proud with that.” I ranted staring at him like he was out of his mind. I was still in shock from what he had told Kian.
“But he has no idea on what he wants to do! HE DOESN’T KNOW SHIT! HE HAS NOTHING TO MAKE A CAREER OF!” Dave finally lost it and started the screaming war Oh it’s on like donkey kong.
“HAVE YOU EVER ASKED HIM THAT? HAVE YOU EVER JUST GONE TO HIM AND ASKED HIM HOW HIS DAY WAS? That’s all it would have taken to make his day, that’s it, 10 god damn seconds of your life.” I explained to him. I could have sworn I saw a hint of guilt flash in his eyes before he blinked and the glare was back.
“I know my son.” This was all he said looking at the ground notifying me that I had hit a soft spot.
“Do you? Did you know that your son could draw? He’s amazing at drawing and you have no idea because you never take a second to take a good look at him.” I stated, frustrated at how ignorant this man is.
“WELL WHERE IS DRAWING GOING TO GET HIM?” He screamed taking me by surprise.
“IF YOU ACTUALLY TALKED TO YOUR SON THEN YOU WOULD KNOW THAT HE WANTS TO BECOME AN ARCHITECT BUT YOU DON’T DO THAT! YOU NEVER TAKE OUT ANY TIME FOR YOUR CHILDREN! YOU THINK THAT KIAN MADE JESSICA CRY BUT NO IT WAS YOU! SHE WAS CRYING BECAUSE YOU DON’T PAY HER ANY ATTENTION! YOU JUST INSTANTLY BLAMED KIAN WHEN HE WAS ONLY TRYING TO HELP!” I screamed getting it all off my chest.
“Thank you Karen for letting me and Cole stay here but we’ll be out of your hair tomorrow.” I smiled at Karen before walking away to Kian’s room.
“Why did you do that?” A voice spoke behind me once I had climbed all the stairs.
“I wasn’t just going to let him say all that about you.” I informed Kian as he just stared at me in disbelief.
“You didn’t need to; I can take care of myself.” Kian growled taking me by surprise. I thought he’d appreciate it but as always he has to be difficult.
“Kian I don’t care if what I did affected you god damn ego but I wasn’t just going to sit there. He can’t just say all that to you.” I tried defending myself.
“Well look where it got you, he kicked you out Kayla! Where are you going to go?” Kian asked worry flashing in his eyes for the first time.
“It’s fine I can manage myself!” I glared at him slamming the door before jumping into my bed. Wow, today absolutely sucked. I planned for it to go so much better, I thought I would finally confess my feelings to Kian and it would all be great but arghh, why does nothing ever go to plan?
