Orion Black: Fourth-year Slytherin and Heir to the entire Black family. Siblings: Lucretia (older, 7th year Ravenclaw). His father, Arcturus Black (the Third) is the current head of the Black family and her mother is Melania Macmillan. Both families are part of the Sacred 28. Arcturus Black III is the current patriarch of the Black family and cousin to Pollux Black. He is also cousin to the current generation of Macmillans in Hogwarts (Ethel and Tancred) from his mother's side.
Arcturus is more enigmatic than the usual outright bigot that one expects from the old pureblooded families, more pragmatic than most. This is relevant to note as Orion takes very much after his father in character, even if his looks still carried some of his mother's softer and kinder-looking lines. He is one of the Slytherins who does not underestimate the Hufflepuffs because his mother was one. Betrothed to his second cousin, Walburga Black.
For all of Orion's unusual patience and planning for one so young, Alphard is one of the few people who can easily annoy him. It's probably because they are family.
First appearance: Chapter 14 ("Lunchtime Socialisations and Advanced Potions") during lunch, with his coterie of pureblood wizards at the Slytherin table. Passes by in Chapter 16 ("Mobilisations and Responses"). Does not enters the scene again until Chapter 55 ("Les explosions à l'école I").
