Eugenie Delacour (OC): Fifth-year Ravenclaw prefect, partnered with Alvis Boot. Eugenie is a French transfer from Beauxbatons who is one of Hermione's dormmates and friends. Among the French transfers to Hogwarts, she is the first one,the one who had transferred earliest (her parents presumably sensitive to the tumult in the muggle war on the continent). A member of the extended, part-veela Delacour clan (many of which has a different last name as they married out). Her name is the female, French version of Greek name Ευγενιος (Eugenios) derived from the Greek word ευγενης (eugenes) meaning 'well-born'.
For all her shyness and occasional stutter, there is still a reason why she was chosen to be a prefect. Under her gentleness is a witch who can stand her ground and give as good as she got (Ves, being the sort of wizard that he is, has seen this firsthand more than once).
First Appearance: Chapter 9 ("The Lazy Days of Summer"), Chapter 10 ("To the Ravenclaw Tower"), etc. As one of Hermione's friends and dormmates, she appears often.
