Sidney Selwyn (OC): Seventh-year Ravenclaw pureblood and cousin to Stephanie Selwyn. Stephanie's father is the current head of the family and head of the main branch. His family is old, which in the Wizarding World parlance meant before the time of William the Conqueror. As such, inheritance does not follow agnatic primogeniture. Not only that, they're old enough to have inheritance completely up to the current head of the family. As such, he and many of his other cousins do their best to toe the line, curry favour and follow their uncle with the hopes of getting chosen as the heir.
Compared to his other male cousins or even his brothers, he had the favourable trait of being a patient man. This was why that despite him being a third-born, people give him the best odds of being chosen by his uncle, father of Stephanie, to be his heir once Stephanie has married out of the family or she has passed twenty-five years of age. (He cannot thank his stars enough that she was not sharp enough that his uncle decided to simply choose her as his heir).
First Appearance: In Chapter 37 ("The Dark Side of the Moon"), chatting with Torquil Travers and Tancred Macmillan in the library.
