"Pssst, Minho."

At first, the runner wanted to ignore it. He'd just gotten comfortable in his hammock and was extremely unwilling to get up.

"Piss off, Shebean, I am not getting up." Minho muttered.

"What if I told you getting up involved severely angering the second in command?" Y/N whispered mischievously, the grin on her face invisible in the dark.

"I'm listening." Minho's interest skyrocketed.

Y/N shuffled a little closer to Minho's hammock. "I just happened to find a cute little spider in the dead heads today—"

"Say no more!" Minho scrambled out of his hammock and tried to locate Y/N in the dark, once he did, he placed his hands on her shoulders. "Let's do this."

The pair could hardly contain themselves as they stumbled through the dark towards Newt's hammock. The blonde boy was, of all things, deathly afraid of spiders. He had made it very clear on numerous occasions to not joke around and use the phobia to their advantage, but Y/N and Minho couldn't resist it. To be able to make the Glade's second in command scream in fright because of a small little spider was just too good to be true.

"You have a plan, right?" Minho questioned, holding onto Y/N's shoulders, following her through the dark.

"You bet I do." She snickered lightly.

Approaching Newt's hammock, Y/N almost felt bad for what she was about to do. Newt lay there, sleeping contently with the blanket pulled up to his nose. One of the torches flickered above his hammock and it looked rather peaceful.

"Aww, look how cute." Minho cooed. "Now do it."

Y/N took a deep breath, mustering all her bravery and shuffled closer to the hammock. "Newt..." She mumbled softly, turning back to Minho and cringing.

"What is it, love?" He questioned quietly without even opening his eyes. The blonde was very obviously already sinking into sleep.

"Can you hold my hand?" Y/N pleaded.

"Mmm—" He muttered in his half waken state, letting his hand droop out of the hammock from beneath the blanket. His palm faced the sky, and despite how worn it was from countless hours spent working in the gardens, it looked soft and welcoming.

Hesitantly, Y/N untraveled her fist where she held a small spider within. Her chest pinged with guilt momentarily, but she mustered the bravery to gently place the spider in the boys open palm. A few seconds passed before Newt furrowed his brows in confusion, opening and closing his hand slightly as if searching for Y/N's hand. In doing so, he very soon became aware of not just the missing hand, but also of the strange tingling making its way across his palm. That was when his eyes ever so slowly fluttered open, looking to Y/N.

"Didn't you want to hold my hand?" He asked in a groggy voice, trying to focus his tired eyes on the girl.

"Uhm well—" Y/N muttered, but before she could finish, Newt's eyes shot open wide in pure terror. The spider was now scurrying around and Newt jolted back, looking to his hand like it was his worst nightmare.

"BLOODY HELL!" He screeched, throwing himself backwards and into the dirt. The spider got ejected in the process, but the blonde still scrambled around, smacking and swatting at any place on his body he felt a strange tingle. Which, now, just happened to be everywhere.

"Newt!" Y/N called out between laughs. "It's gone!"

It took a moment for Newt to calm down, and once he did, he shot a harsh, unforgiving glare towards Y/N and Minho before stomping off into the dark.

"Now I can sleep contently." Minho proclaimed a little too happily. Y/N watched as he jogged back to his hammock and then turned her attention to the dark Glade. There was Newt, slowly limping around.

Reluctantly, Y/N forced herself to follow him. In the soft grass, the second in command sat, staring up at the dark sky.

"I'm sorry, we shouldn't have done that." Y/N apologized. Luckily, when Newt looked up, he didn't seem all that angry.

"It's alright," He laughed lightly, patting the spot beside him. "But now you can hold my hand."

The smirk on his face told Y/N she hadn't been the only one with a plan. "Is that why you stormed off? So I'd follow and then you could play the pity card?"

Newt pursed his lips, shrugging lightly with a smile tugging upwards. "Well, it worked, didn't it?" He laughed as he took the girls hand and held it tight.
