Alexis Tomlinson's Audition

*Alexis' POV*

Okay, standing here backstage was making me even more nervous than I already was. When I got here the crew member handed me the microphone and instructed me to walk out on stage and stand on the X when she told me to. And I've been waiting here for the past few minutes and the suspense is killing me.

Finally, the crew member pushed me out on stage and I made my way over to the X. As the crowd cheered, I looked over at the judges and it just so happened to be Simon Cowell, Sam Smith, and Ed Sheeran. Huh, good group of judges.

"Hello, how are you?" Sam asked as I took my spot on the X.

"I'm good, how are you?" I replied.

"I'm doing good. Would you mind telling us your name, how old you are, and where you're from." Sam replied.

I nodded and answered.

"I'm Alexis Tomlinson, I'm 17 years old, and I am from London, England." I said.

I swear I saw Simon and Ed's faces go pale for a slight second, but their faces regained color as quickly as it left.

"And what will you be singing for us today?" Simon asked, recovering from whatever just happened there.

"I'm actually going to be singing 'Autumn Leaves' by Ed Sheeran." I replied.

Ed immediately smiled at my song choice.

"Wonderful. I can't wait to hear it. Start whenever you're ready." Ed said with a smile.

I nodded and signaled for them to start the song. And as soon as I opened my mouth and started singing, everyone started cheering.

I took a quick glance at the judges and their jaws literally dropped. At least Simon and Ed's did. I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. I decided I'm not going to think much of it and just continue the song.

"Do you ever wonder if the stars shine out for you?
Float down
Like autumn leaves
And hush now
Close your eyes before the sleep
And you're miles away
And yesterday you were here with me"

As I continued the song, the crowd continued to cheer and I could tell the judges were enjoying the song choice by the smile on their faces. And when I finished the song, everyone was on their feet, even the judges. I wonder if Katey got a standing ovation too.

"Oh my gosh! You are absolutely amazing! Incredible! You are so talented. Definitely one of my favorites so far." Sam said excitedly with a huge smile on his face.

"Yeah, definitely one of my favorites so far. You are definitely amazing. I loved it. I really would like to see you perform again." Simon said.

"You just sang that better than I ever have. I am so incredibly proud. You are so talented. I would really like to see you perform again." Ed said, grinning from ear to ear.

"Okay then. I think we all know what it's going to be, but let's take a vote, shall we. Sam." Simon said.

"It's a definite yes from me." Sam said smiling.

"Ed." Simon said.

"It's an obvious yes from me. I can't wait to see you perform again." Ed said, still grinning from ear to ear.

"And it's a yes from me. Congratulations, you're going to the next round." Simon said, also grinning from ear to ear.

I immediately smiled in excitement.

"Thank you so much." I said before walking off stage.

I can't wait to tell the girls.

After leaving the stage, I quickly ran up to the girls and stopped abruptly once I reached them.

"I'm assuming by the look of excitement on your face, you made it through to the next round." Brittany said.

"Yup." I said, popping the 'p'.

Once again, the girls screamed and jumped up and down in excitement, bringing me in for a group hug. And once again, we gained weird looks from those around us, but we didn't care. We were just happy another one of us made it through. Once we all calmed down, we sat down and waited for the next one to be called.

"Julie Payne! You're on deck!" We heard the crew member call a few moments later.

"Well, I guess I'm up." She stated nervously.

"Don't worry. You're going to do great. I know it." Bailey said, reassuring her.

"I hope so." Julie mumbled before walking off to follow the crew member back stage.

I never heard Julie sing before, but I really hope she goes through. I hope all of us go through. I really need them in the next round.
