*Harry Styles*

*Harry's POV*

I am currently pacing around my living room as my wife, Jamie, sits on the couch. I have not seen or heard from Brittany in weeks and I am worried sick. And I can't believe that Jaime is so calm about this. I mean, don't get me wrong, when we found out that Jamie ran away, she was a wreck. But not too long after, she had a sudden calmness about it. She told me that everything was going to be okay. That she had a gut feeling that she was safe and most likely doing something that she loved. Well, my wife telling me that, got me even more worried. My daughter came home after curfew, was grounded, and then just decided that she was going to sneak off without a word. How can I not be worried?

"Harry, please stop pacing. You're giving me a headache. Please sit down." Emily said with slight annoyance after about an hour of me pacing back and forth.

"Fine." I mumbled as I sat down next to her on the couch.

"Can you stop worrying already. I told you she's fine." My wife assured me.

"But how can you be sure? We haven't heard from her in weeks. Her phone keeps going to voicemail." I told her.

"I can be sure because I am her mother. And if she's not picking up her phone, there has to be a logical explanation. Just take a breath. Everything is going to be okay." Emily assured me.

I just sat there, not saying a word. I guess I still looked worried because my wife took one look at me and shook her head.

"Why don't we watch some TV to take your mind off of it?" Emily suggested and I just nodded.

Emily quickly grabbed the remote from the table and turned on the TV. She then continued to flip through the channels as something in particular caught my eye.

"Hey can you go back real quick?" I asked her.

"Why?" She asked in confusion.

"I thought I saw something. Just go back." I told her.

She did as she was told and went back to the last channel. And as soon as she did my wife's jaw dropped as my face turned red from anger. How could she do this to me?

"Hello, how are you doing today?" Simon Cowell asked.

"I'm doing well. How about you?" Brittany replied.

"I'm doing well. Can you please tell us your name, age, and where you are from?" Simon said, trying to move this along.

"My name is Brittany Styles, I'm 17 years old, and I am from London, England." Brittany said. The camera panned to the judges and I swear Simon and Ed shared a look as Brittany introduced herself. Yeah, she's my daughter. Get over it.

"And what will you be singing for us today?" Sam Smith asked.

"I will actually be singing 'I'm Not The Only One' by Sam Smith." Brittany said with a shy smile, earning a grin from Sam Smith himself.

"Great. We can't wait to hear it. Start whenever you're ready." Ed Sheeran said.

Still fuming, I watched as my daughter signaled them to start the music. And once the music started and Brittany opened her mouth and started singing, all the anger I just felt, faded away.

"You and me, we made a vow
For better or for worse
I can't believe you let me down
But the proof's in the way it hurts

For months on end I've had my doubts
Denying every tear
I wish this would be over now
But I know that I still need you here

You say I'm crazy
'Cause you don't think I've known what you've done
But when you call me baby
I know I'm not the only one"

As the song continued, I felt myself become a bit more at ease. Yeah, I don't like anything to do with music, especially the X Factor. And yeah I was very much angry at Brittany for going behind my back and auditioning for the very show that I do not like. But once she opened her mouth and sang, I felt all of that anger go away. It was probably due to the fact that she is an incredible singer. I really wish I didn't make it clear that I didn't like anything to do with music, especially the X Factor. Maybe then she would have shared her talent for singing. She probably would have told us that she wanted to audition for the X Factor.

As the song ended, everyone, especially the judges, were on their feet. This caused me to smile slightly.

"Brittany, that was truly amazing. I couldn't help but sing along at times. You are the second person today to sing one of my songs probably better than I have ever done. I have a feeling we are going to see you more in the future." Sam said happily with a huge grin on his face.

"Like Sam said, that was truly amazing. I enjoyed every minute of it. I really hope to see you in the next round. You definitely deserve it." Ed said, which caused me to smile a bit.

"Honestly, I have nothing to say because they said it all. You were truly incredible. I'm just going to start you off with a yes." Simon said, beginning the voting process, which earned a smile from me.

"It's a yes from me." Ed said, smiling.

"And it's a yes from me. Congratulations." Sam said, immediately making me smile from ear to ear.

"Thank you all so much!" Brittany said happily as I walked off the stage.

As soon as Brittany walked off stage, Emily turned off the TV and we sat there in silence. We couldn't find the words for what we just saw. Finally, Emily found words to speak.

"Did we really just watch that?" Emily asked in disbelief.

"Yup." I said, popping the 'p'.

"And was it just me or did I watch your emotion instantly change as soon as she opened her mouth and started singing?" Emily asked.

"Nope. You definitely saw that." I replied.

"So you're not mad at her for auditioning for the X Factor behind our backs?" She asked curiously.

"How could I be? I basically forced her to with how much I made it clear that I didn't like anything to do with music, especially the X Factor." I told her.

"Well, it's a good thing she went behind our backs and auditioned. Otherwise she would have kept this a secret from us for as long as possible. Who knows if she would have ever told us?" Emily said.

"Yup." I said in agreement, popping the 'p'.

"So, do you think we should surprise her by showing up if she makes it through to the live shows?" Emily asked.

"No. I think we should just let this play out and see where it takes them. We don't want them to think we're there to drag her back home. Plus, she is already expecting us not to watch the X Factor because of my opinion on it. So I don't want to be like 'Surprise we saw you on the X Factor and decided that we were going to surprise you!'" I explained.

"Okay." She said simply.

"So, do you want to watch the end of it? I think there is still a couple more people to go before it ends." Emily asked.

"Sure. Why not?" I replied.

And with that, we spent the rest of the night watching the end of the episode. I am really hoping Brittany makes it far in the competition because after listening to her perform , I realized that that is where she belongs. She belongs up on stage performing in front of an audience.
