Two Torn Lungs

Pain
Can't breathe
I hold my breath,
but can't bear it anymore.
Lungs screaming
Air:
My life,
My salvation
Drowning.

Sinking
You were the one
who tied the boulder
to my ankle
Trying
to swim up to
the surface
Drowning.

In the beginning:
Diving in
Ready.
Or at least thinking
you're ready.
But the cold truth is
you're not.
Nothing
can prepare you
for
drowning.
