"Okay, I'll admit this isn't as bad as I thought it would be," I laughed jumping up once again with my pom-pom outstretched above my head, "But it is a bit tiring. I'm gonna go and change and make sure my grandmother is alright," Making my temporary departure from the girls I made my way towards the locker rooms my itching to get out of this cheerleader outfit growing more than ever.
Entering the vacant locker rooms, I made my way to my locker that was tucked away in the far back corner. Cracking the blue painted door, I tore off the half top and pulled it over my head, stopping temporarily when the sound of something falling echoed throughout the empty locker rooms. Snapping my head towards the noise, I saw nothing out of the sort except for a cold, unsettling breeze of uneasiness that tickled my exposed shoulder blades. Scanning my surroundings my eyes settled on a body lengthed mirror. My reflection looking back at me in a sideways glance. Catching the unwanted sight of my exposed back the elongated scar that tarnished my s/c skin etched itself into my brain my thoughts racing with nostalgia as the image of Mikoto's smiling face flashed in my head. Hesitantly, I went back to change, stretching my uniform shirt on in a swift motion before doing the same with my skirt.
"This is freaking creepy," I mumbled, grabbing my gym jacket in haste while rushing out of the locker room as fast as I could. Turning my back to the door, I pushed my way out of the locker room. Feeling the anxiety from before wash off my back as I exited the girl's locker room my mind couldn't help but wonder why such a feeling came over me.
'It felt like someone was...watching...'
Looking back at the door, my gut was telling me to check it out but my head was saying to get out of here. Biting my lip I shook my head turning back towards the entrance to the activities yard. Keeping a steady pace. arm self-consciously moved behind my back my fingers tracing over the scar delicately.
"We have to go!"
'I wish they could be here.'
"We can't just leave her!"
'Hell...I wish I knew where they were.'
"Stay strong sweetie, alright?"
'I wish Mikoto knew who they really were, what the meaning was behind what they did,'
"We'll be back with you and your brother before you know it,"
Finding myself stopped in the middle of the hall, my mind went ragged as flashes of the three of having a good time, the nostalgia of the memories brewing with an every passing second. Smiling sadly, I retracted y hand from my scar, looking at my palms solely.
'Yeah, they'll be here...I just have to wait a little bit longer,'
"Y/n?" Widening my eyes in shock, I looked down seeing the worried expression on Mikoto's face. "You alright?" Looking down at his small form, my smile grew the slightest bit as I crouched down to his level.
"Yeah, I'm alright. What are you doing in here anyways? Where's Grandma?" Looking on either side of the hall I caught no sight of the blue-haired woman.
"Granma asked me to come and get you. She said she wanted us to go and eat something before you have to go and fight," Mikoto spoke, his happy tone returning in seconds notice due to his young nature.
I deadpanned hearing such a statement realizing that everyone had lunch o more than an hour ago.
'I swear grandparent's and their food problems.'
"Alright, I guess if you're hungry we could, but we have to hurry," Taking Mikoto's wrist in mine I looked at the watch he so desperately wanted for his birthday just a month before school. "I only have fifteen minutes until I absolutely need to be back with my class,"
Nodding his head in a salute he reached his arms up at me as I stood up from my crouched position. Sighing yet again at his ways, I lifted him up from underneath his arms and propping him up against my chest, his legs falling on either side of my waist.
"Now! The food awaits my young man!" I cheered, running down the halls back to the food trucks out front Mikoto yelling and laughing happily in my arms by the thrill of me running. The sight of his happy and excited smile causing one of my own smiles to etch its way to my lips.
-Gina's POV-
The brunette sat there quietly, her earbuds dangling from her ears but playing nothing but a barely audible sound. Her face was tucked into her arms as her knees were tight against her body, eyes dull with worry as the sound of footsteps made their slow pace towards the anxiety-ridden girl on the ground.
"That was a close one wasn't it Yakatama?" The man's degrading voice making said girl tries to hide by burying her face deeper into her folded arms, "You almost compromising your own success by attempting to opt out of the whole competition only because of some boy and his little quirk?"
Staying as silent as she possibly could, Gina only sat in place, her fingers gripping her hoddie that she tried to hide her self in. But no matter how hard she tried, no matter how much she begged for it to work, the pale man that spoke to her with such malic scratched his neck irritably.
"You know...It's rather rude to ignore someone who is speaking with you," As though his words had no effect, Gina sat there, still, her eyes never moving from the misplaced tile on the ground that was just slightly unaligned from the rest. Her nerves wracked as the figure bent down to her eyes level where a dulled blue met a crazed red.
The fear flashed in her eyes as she opened her mouth to speak for the first time since the man's arrival, "I'm sorry I almost screwed the plan over, I wasn't thinking properly with my actions and went off on my own feelin-Ah!"
Yelping in pain as the earbuds that were wrapped around her ears were forcefully taken with one swift yank, the brash action causing the girl's ears to bleed the slightest bit due to the plastic scratching her slightly. With her eyes squinted in slight pain, she watched in dismay as the man stood from his earlier position dangling the headphones in front of him inspecting them carefully before giving the girl a cold stare in return.
"It's also rude to have these things jammed into your head while speaking to your elders," Watching the teen before him with distaste as his hand enclosed itself on the item before him, the earbuds eroding away into nothing but back dust, the same dust that reminded the girl of her Sensei Aizawa who was still recovering from the USJ incident not that long ago. "Get your act together and stick with the plan. You know our settlement and if anymore of these so-called 'screw-ups' happen in the future... you can be sure we will hold up our end of it."
Watching as the man left silently down the corridor only to disappear around the corner, Gina let out a choked sob, one that she had been holding in ever since the close proximity the two of them had previously been in. Her fingers raked themselves in her brown locks, the trembles of her crying body evident to all those who would be near, but at last, there was no one.
She knew she had fucked herself over with the decisions she had made, or rather ben forced to make. She knew she never had a choice.
And maybe that's what killed her inside the most.
