Tay:
I woke up with the best feeling in the world, that warm gooey feeling inside that comes from being close to someone you really care about. My nose was pressed up against her head and I could smell her flowery scented shampoo. My arms were wrapped around her, holding on to her so she would never leave me again. Everything seemed too perfect, I had to be dreaming. Everything seemed to be covered with the same sleepy blissful haze.
Even though the boys had given us the "double bed", which means the blanket covered trunk of the van, we had ended up pushed up against the side and we were only taking up half of the space.
Jenna let out a groan as she flipped over and slowly opened her eyes. It took her a second to figure out what was going on, but once she had wrapped her head around it she grinned. I bit my lip to hold back the urge to kiss her so that I could admire her stunning smile for a few more seconds.
"Good morning gorgeous gal." I greeted her sweetly.
"Morning my beautiful brunette." she cooed back.
I felt my heart skip a beat, nothing could be this perfect. I rolled over on top of her and lightly kissed her in the lips. She looked up at me with disappointment as I pulled back. I couldn't resist; I kissed her again and this time she wouldn't let me go. We lay there peacefully for a second until my stomach growled loudly.
"Shit, I really need something to eat. What time is it?"
Jenna felt around beside her for her phone until she found it by her head. "It's 8. Wanna go see if that grocery store there is open?" pointing to the store at the end of the parking lot where we had stopped for the night to sleep.
"Race you there!" I shouted as I quickly got up, opened the trunk and started running. I needed a good head start if I was going to beat her. I ran as fast as my short little legs could, but I didn't stand a chance. It didn't take her long to catch up to me, in fact she got so far ahead she decided to start jogging backwards. I stuck my tongue out at her as I pushed myself to go faster. It was no use she beat me to the door.
We wondered the aisles of the, rather large, store. We walked past chocolate muffins and donuts, root beer and cheerwine, mars and snickers. There was so much tempting junk food, but we did good. We left with two apples, a bottle of orange juice and only one bag of chips.
As soon as we got back to the van we had to get on the road. Time went by at an incredible speed with Jenna there to entertain me. We told each other lame jokes (Did you hear the joke about the broken pencil?...Never mind, it's pointless), sang out loud until we had annoyed the boys and snuck in the occasional kiss. It seemed like a matter of minutes before it was evening and we were at the venue getting ready to start our show.
Tonight Alive was playing first. Jenna and her band mates went around giving their pre-show hugs and jumping around. Their pre-recorded soundtrack started and they ran up on stage. I had to hold back from singing along, but I knew I would wear my voice out before I had to preform.
Next it was my turn. My band and I played our hearts out. Everything felt right tonight. The crowd was lively and loud, plus I had Jenna standing side stage sweaty and tired, but nonetheless staying there waiting for me, smiling.
We didn't stick around to hear Paramore, it was already 10, instead we had all agreed it was better we get on the road. It was going to be a long trip to the next city. A 9 hour drive in addition to the time we would need for sleeping.
Cam, Jenna and I shared the back row, Mike and our merch boy had taken the middle, Jordan rode shotgun and Rob was driving tonight. It was a calm night, we drove for about 3 hours through the countryside. I looked out the window at the silhouettes of the trees that sped past. Jenna had fallen asleep with her head on my shoulder.
All of a sudden as we got to an intersection a car came speeding towards us from the side. Rob saw it and slammed the accelerator trying to get out of the way. My heart raced as I watched it get closer and closer, it didn't look like we were going to make it.
I could feel milliseconds go by as I watched it hit the very back of the van detaching the trailer and causing us to start spinning. Rob cussed as he tried to get control, but it was useless. We tumbled off the side of the road. My head hit the window as we rolled down a small hill.
Everything went black.
