Savanna Thomas

I tapped Zena's shoulder repeatedly. "Zena, wake up please."

She squinted her eyes and turned over, looking down at me.

It was 3 am and I woke up out of my sleep, cramping. And it wasn't just any ordinary cramps, they were killing me.

"What's wrong, bro?" She mumbled.

I ran my hand over my stomach, trying to keep calm. But it was hard. I was scared and I didn't know what was going on.

"I don't know - I- I-" I stuttered.

She looked down at my stomach and then down at my legs.

"Savanna!" She screamed. "Oh my god, you're bleeding!"

She jumped out of the bed.

"What?" I looked down, seeing blood run down my legs. "Oh my god, Zena!"

I started to cry.

She quickly ran over to her closet and slipped on her jacket and grabbed her keys.

"Come on, we have to go to the hospital." She tried to grab me but I couldn't move.

"I can't, it hurts." I cried.

"Oh my god, Okay. Sit down." She said.

I tried to move but another pain shot through my body and I bent backwards, falling to the ground.

"Savanna!"

She quickly reached down and pulled me up and I wrapped my arm around her.

"I'm going to call the ambulance, Okay?" I nodded.

Oh my god, please don't let me lose my baby. Not now.

Not like this.

I sat on the bed, taking deep breaths but it wasn't helping. All the blood was dripping down my legs and I started to cry harder.

"Hold on, Nana." She said.

I closed my eyes tightly, hoping the pain would stop but it didn't.

Everything happened so fast. It was like within two minutes I was in the back of the ambulance as they rushed me to the hospital.

"There's so much blood." I heard the EMT mumble as she checked my blood pressure.

"Zena." I called out to her.

She looked my way. I held out my hand to her and she grabbed it, holding it tightly.

"I'm so scared." I cried.
