Nearly a year later.
It was a happy spring day on Vanaheim. Flower's blossomed and trees danced in the wind,
the rivers flowed and the fish jumped from it's surface.
Horses ran the wide open fields and birds soared the skies.
Cries filled the birthing chamber, cries of joy and cries of a newborn as the distance sound of bells chimed in the city below the palace.
The head midwife cradled the bloodied newborn baby in her arms as it cried, white whiskers of hair was plastered to the baby's head. It was tiny. So very tiny and fragile.
The head midwife smiled down rocking the baby in her arms while other midwives hustled around Lady Sigyn. Cleaning the bloodied sheets and wiping the sweat from her face.
"A beautiful, healthy baby girl, My lady!" announced the midwife joyfully.
"A girl?" Sigyn repeated with heavy eyes.
The head midwife laid the newborn on a table and with a wet cloth and wiped the blood and yuk as it continued to cry. The midwife turned to the young apprentice and said, "Tell the queens guard the royal baby is a girl. Spread the news!" the apprentice nodded and quickly left the room.
