It came that time in March where fifteen year olds around the kingdom gathered and received their grimoire.

The master of the grimoire tower greeted all the young mages. He was somewhat dramatic if Y/n did say so herself and desperate for someone from the area to become a great Magic Knight. Or even the Wizard King.

As they waited, Y/n could hear people whispering about them. They were only ever known as the orphans from the church. It honestly made her sad that some people couldn't look beyond someone's status.

"Are you nervous?" Yuno asked, noticing Y/n's mood shift.

"No," she answered. "Don't worry about it."

Yuno never seems affected by anyone's comments; he was the coolheaded handsome guy. It always bothered Y/n and Asta the most. She wished she could laugh it off or had the courage the retaliate, but most of the time she always ended up keeping quiet.

The grimoires began flying off the shelves leaving a streak of light behind them. Several young mages eagerly grabbed at their designated grimoires. Some were larger than others while some were ticker, with more pages already inside it.

A book settled in front of Y/n. It's purple and black exterior was dotted with several stars. A crescent moon sat in the center. She looked to Yuno nervously who gave her a small reassuring nod.

Grasping the smooth grimoire, Y/n opened it. There was a bright light that temporarily blinded her. When it receded, a small little fairy boy with brown haired tied into a braid hovered above the pages.

He yawned, rubbing his purple eyes tiredly. Y/n took note of his little purple shorts and the black vest with a moon printed on the back. It was the same as the one on her grimoire. When the fairy saw Y/n, he jumped and pointed at her accusingly.

"Who the hell are you?" He snapped. Y/n glared, an irk mark appearing on her forehead.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that you little fairy?" She hissed. The fairy crossed his arms, pouting like a kid.

"My name's Hoshi. I'm a sylph, not a fairy."

"Same thing."

"No it's not!"

"You're tiny, have wings, and are highly annoying." Y/n listed off on her fingers before crossing her arms. "There's no difference."

"Yes there is! And who are you calling annoying you loud mouthed woman!"

Both Hoshi and Y/n glared each other down. Anyone could practically see the fiery mana radiating off them.

"I'll crush you like an insect," Y/n growled, cracking her knuckles.

Angrily, Hoshi pulled at Y/n's cheek. His little hands grasped on to her face surprisingly well. The girl flicked him. The little sylph squealed as he spiraled away. "Can I get a new grimoire?" Y/n asked Yuno. "One without a pest?"

Yuno sighed. "I don't think it works like that."

"Ano...my grimoire hasn't come yet," Asta said with his arm outstretched. Everyone stared at the boy in disbelief.

"Oh," was all the Master of the tower said. "Try again next year."

At that everyone began laughing. Y/n frowned, pitying her childhood friend. Hoshi flew back over and landed on Y/n's shoulder while rubbing his sore forehead.

"Who's the loser everyone's laughing at?" Y/n flicked him again.

"Insult him again and I'll clip your wings."

A very blinding light then appeared in front of Yuno. Y/n had to squint. His grimoire, a beautiful green book with gold accents, had the legendary four leaf clover on it. A two or three leaf was common on most grimoires, but the last person to have a four leaf wad the very first Wizard King.
