Yuno used his wind magic to evade the witch (Catherine)'s curse bullets. As she had taunted, he wouldn't know what was in them unless they hit him. And he was not risking anything in order to find out.

"What are you people? Why did you attack?" Yuno questioned.

"My, think you can talk and fight?" Catherine teased. "Sure, you're handsome so I'll tell you." Again, Yuno tried really hard to mask his disgust at her flirting. "We're here to eliminate a certain someone. Who do you think it is? Not that I'm going to tell you!"

His shock couldn't last long. The witch sent her cursed bullets again, and he had to use his wind to propel himself upward. Her attacks grew faster and more consistent. As fatigue started to settle in and his movements became more clumsy, Yuno got hit several times.

"Ugh...My eyes... I can barely see anymore!" Yuno thought as he struggled to keep his eyes open. "My body is going numb. My ears are ringing. This is her power. Where's Y/n?! Her magic could reverse this."

"Ash curse magic, cheerful ash destruction. Bit by bit while trembling with terror, you'll regret calling me old," Catherine said with a wicked smile.

But Yuno could barely hear her anymore. From the effects of her magic to his cluttered thoughts, he couldn't really hear anything.

"The four leaf clover raised their expectations and I was easily admitted into the Golden Dawn, the strongest squad there is right now. What exactly...was I trying to do?"

All the taunting her has received from civilians and even his other squad members never really phased him. No one had faith in him or believed in his abilities. Not that what other people said to him mattered in the first place. Yuno's only focus was to hone his skills to keep from losing and to be strong enough to protect the one he loves.

"But, I couldn't win...I failed to protect Y/n...what defeated that guy was a power I was given by chance but couldn't control. Not only that, but that power won't listen to me at all. It's how I escaped that spacial magic. Because that power which I can't really call my own reacted.

"I'm honestly jealous. Y/n had spirit magic the moment she got her grimoire. She may not have unlocked its full potential, but she has decent mastery over it. I want to be strong. I need to be stronger...The thing that really frustrates me!"

Yuno's senses went completely dark.

He couldn't aim.

He couldn't see.

He couldn't hear. But suddenly, amidst the darkest, he saw a bright light. A bright mana that flowed in front of him.

It is said that mages with wind-based magic are particularly good at detecting mana. With all five senses cut off and his back against the wall, Yuno with his finely honed concentration showed an astounding ability to detect mana... and then attempted to go beyond that.

"I don't care," Yuno thought. "He wouldn't give up. She wouldn't want me to quit!"

"I'm not done yet!!" A bright light surrounded Yuno's grimoire. On a blank page, several lines started to write across it. Wind encompassed his body. Yuno controlled the mana, condensing it and molding it to his will. A small creature wearing a green dress with short blonde hair and little wings appeared with his newfound control.

Catherine gasped in shock, finally seeing his grimoire. "T-that grimoire... the legendary... four leave clover..?!"

"I'll tell you...just one thing about me," Yuno said. Violent winds swirled around him. "I'm a really bad loser!!! Wind Spirit Magic: Sylph's Breath!!"
