27: hot spring of hell

Yuno stared blankly at the angry woman while she scolded her squad for coming in fifth place. In previous years the squad did better in placement, but with the incapacitation of their captain, he heard from Y/n that the squad morale had be low. Speaking of her, the black haired male looked over seeing her quivering in fear.

Now he understood what she meant but their new captain being scary.

"THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY THE CRIMSON LIONS PLACED OTHER THAN FIRST OR SECOND!" Mereoleona bellowed. "NOT ONLY THAT, BUT WEVE TAKEN A JOKE OF A PLACE LIKE FIFTH!! ALL BECAUSE MY YOUNGER BROTHER IS TAKING A NAP?! ARE YOU ALL HELPLESS BABIES!??!"

"Wait! That scary woman is captain fuegoleon and Leo's older sister!!?" Asta's exclaimed.

"Yeah..." Y/n mumbled, tears running down her cheeks.

"Damnit Fuegoleon. You moron. You went on and raised a bunch of brainless idiots for knights," Mereoleona continued to berate the squad, who did nothing but hang their head in shame. "How long are you planning to stay asleep and leave these useless knights here like this?!? You're a failure of a captain!?"

"That's not true!" Silence enveloped the atmosphere before the attention to the person who spoke out: Y/n. Her teary eyes held a certain fierceness that most of the members didn't recognize. Even Asta and Yuno were shocked that she shy girl they grew up with spoke out against such a bold woman.

"Captain Fuegoleon encouraged me when no one else did," Y/n declared. "He saw something in me that even i didn't. That man acted like the father I never had! Siblings or not, you have no right to bad mouth him when you weren't even here to see what happened!"

"THATS RIGHT!" Leopold agreed. "Brother is a greater, more magnificent captain than anyone has ever been!"

"Yeah!" Nala added. "Captain Fuego deserves more credit than you're giving him! He taught us what it means to be a magic knight and how to be through and through!"

Other knights backed them up, supporting the three members who spoke out. Mereoleona stood silent, glaring down at the squad like mere prey.

"I don't care who it is, even you sis!! I won't allow anyone to talk bad about bro-" Mereoleona cut leo off with a hard punch to the face. Y/n winced, feeling that blow herself.

"THEN BACK THAT UP WITH MORE THAN JUST YOUR MOUTH!!" Mereoleona yelled. "BACK IT UP WITH YOUR ENTIRE BEING!! IF YOU SAY YOURE THE STRONGEST SQUAD BEING LED BY THE GREATEST CAPTAIN!!!" Flames engulfed the fiery woman's body. "THEN THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THAT GIANT FRICKIN IDIOT WOULD EVER DIE AND LEAVE A BUNCH OF TRASH LIKE YOU AND THIS COUNTRY BEHIND ON ITS OWN!! SO UNTIL HE GETS BACK, YOU ALL NEED TO WORK YOURS ASSES OFF TO SHOW THE STRENGTH OF THE PROUD CRIMSON LIONS!!"

Y/n bit her lip hard enough to almost draw blood. To say she missed Fuegoleon was an understatement. Ever since she returned from her mission with Yuno, she checked on him every day. But the doctors never had any new information other than his condition was stable. She missed being able to train with him. He always provided her the comfort and advice she needed. Without him around, it made her feel lonely and vulnerable.

"Since there's no choice," the lioness started, "while my dear younger brother is absent, I have to look after you all myself. WHERES YOUR RESPONSE??!"

"YES MA'AM!!" The squad shouted.

"Wow! She's so intense!!" Asta's eyes sparkled. Y/n sulked in fear.

"Try being in her squad..."

"All right then, let's go to the hot springs training camp," Mereoleona said. The squad stared at her blankly in confusion. Y/n paled. She didn't like the sound of that. When she first ran into the captain after her mission, the orange haired woman mentioned her plan for a training camp. Her plan was honestly a death wish for everyone else.
