21: Forsaken Realm

Instead of dreaming about the strange man, that night, Y/n dreamt of the woman. Again, she was in the body of an infant.

Cold water was poured over her head making Y/n cringe. A small cloth lathered her body with soap suds. She let out a sneeze and began to shiver.

"Sorry sweetheart, I'm almost finished."

The woman, Aurelia if Y/n remembered correctly, ran her fingers through her locs. Her hands were gentle, leaving Y/n's scalp tingling as she carefully washed her hair.

"All right. All done." Aurelia covered Y/n with a fluffy towel and began to dry her off. Y/n stared up at the woman, studying her.

Her light blonde, almost white hair was pulled back into a careful bun. Not a strand out of place. Her soft, round e/c eyes stared back down at Y/n as her gentle hands worked on drying all the water off. She wore a warm smile. Her presence was calming.

"Aurelia-sama, do you have a minute?" A new female spoke. Aurelia motioned the woman in after she placed a little gown on the child to keep her from getting cold again. The first thing Y/n noticed about the woman was she was very pregnant. Her attire looked fancy, Noble-like. And her ears were soft and round, not pointy like Aurelia and Daichi.

"What can I do for you, Tetia?" Aurelia asked. "Can I get you something to drink?"

"Just some water please."

Keeping Y/n balanced in one arm, Aurelia retrieved a cup and poured water from the pitcher into it. She then passed it to Tetia, who graciously took it.

"How do you do it?" The guest suddenly asked. Aurelia took a seat across from the pregnant female, holding Y/n on her lap.

"Do what?" The light haired female asked.

"Be a mother..." Even Y/n was perplexed by the question. "I-it's just hitting me now that in a matter of a couple months, I'll be marrying Licht and bringing our child into the world. I don't know... I don't know how to be the mother our child deserves or the perfect wife for Licht.

"Tetia-"

"But you...you always seem to have it together. Tsukiko is so beautiful and healthy. Your relationship with Daichi is so perfect. I just don't know how to live up to everyone's expectations."

"Tetia." Aurelia giggled. "First of all, I'm no where near as perfect as you think I am. No one is. My experience as a mother and a wife has been up and down. I have to learn as I go. I have to learn about Daichi. I have to learn about Tsukiko. I even have to learn about myself. You can't really prepare for what is it come."

"Then how do I make sure I don't screw this up?"

"You can't," Aurelia said. "You will mess up. It's inevitable. But you just have to learn from it and work with Licht. Communication is key to making your family function. Trust me, there have been times where I could've avoided conflict with Dai if I just talked to him. You will be a great mother. You have the kindness and compassion to be one. Just make sure you never ever abandon your child. If the circumstances called for it, I'd die to protect my daughter."

"I love my child and they aren't even here yet," Tetia said. "I don't even have the heart to consider abandoning them." She smiled as she laid a hand on her stomach. Aurelia extended a hand out, looking to her hand for approval. "Go ahead."
