Dusk had fallen by the time Yuno and Y/n arrived at the closest village: Akatsuchi Village. Settled in the middle of a rocky valley of red stone, the rough terrain made it difficult to walk. And the now set sun made the temperature drop drastically. After they ceased their bickering, Hoshi and Belle snuggled under their partner's cloaks for warmth.

They made their way through town, sticking close together. To avoid suspicion, they put their cloaks and Magic Knight robes in their bags. Although it was late, the village was still very lively. Vendors ran their stands and civilians conversed in the middle of the street. Yuno tightly held Y/n's hand as they wove in and out of the crowd to an inn.

"We'd like a room for the night," the male told the receptionist, panting slightly from tiredness. After paying, he got the key and the two headed upstairs to their room.

"Dear god, my feet hurt like crap!" Y/n exclaimed, collapsing on the bed. "I hate walking."

"We drew less attention by doing so," Yuno sighed. He sat down himself. His own feet and ankles were swollen from the excessive walking. "We should make sure to replenish our supplies before heading out."

"Yeah...we'll definitely do...that..."

Yuno looked over to see the female had fallen asleep. He smiled. Throwing one of the blankets over her body, he then stood once his feet stopped throbbing in pain.

"I'm going back to town to get supplies so we can leave early tomorrow," Yuno told the sylphs.

"I'll go with you!" Belle chimed.

"No. You two stay and watch over Y/n."

"But-"

The black haired male walked past the wind sylph, grabbing his bag and grimoire off the chair. "I'll be back in an hour. Don't cause trouble." With that, he left.

As he walked through town, Yuno kept his guard up. His eyes darted across the streets, studying the people around him. Everyone just seemed like happy peasants, all oblivious to what occurred in the capital the other day. They continued to mingle, going about their evening.

He arrived at an herbal store. The smell of fresh spices filled Yuno's nose as soon as he stepped inside. No one was there other than him and the cashier that was falling asleep. Quickly gathering the items he needed, Yuno brought them to the register where the cashier haphazardly rung him up, probably charging less than for what he actually bought.

Leaving the store, the male was met with clear skies and a deserted street. The town clock said it was midnight already, but Yuno didn't think he was in there for that long. Raising his guard, he quickly walked down the streets, trying to find the inn.

It was odd.

It was too quiet for a town that was just bustling not even twenty minutes ago.

Using his wind, Yuno propelled himself on to a nearby roof. As he looked down, he saw not a single soul in the streets. Every building had its lights off and blinds drawn shut tight. All the vendors had packed up and closed their shops for the night.

"Where did everyone go?" Yuno thought, continuing to fly over the village. He circled the entire town twice only to end up back where he started at the town clock.
