Since Leonard was out once again. Sara and the girls were doing their best to keep busy. The three of them sat up at the table, playing a board game. Monopoly, since Lisa requested, and it was her turn to choose what they should do as a family. Sara though was having trouble concentrating on the game. As she couldn't help but worry about where Leonard was. Usually, he left her a message if he was going to be at work a little later. He was two hours late in coming home. Sara had tried messaging him a few times, but he hadn't responded back yet. Which wasn't like him. Sara was getting worried, but she didn't want to say anything to the girls. She didn't want them to worry too. This only raised Sara's suspicions that Lisa was right. That perhaps Leo was up to his old tricks. Since Lisa's incident.. He had seemed a bit estranged from them. And Sara felt like they were drifting apart. She planned on speaking to Leonard about this. Some night when she could ask someone to babysit the girls. So she could talk, and ask him what was going on. Make sure everything was okay.
Due to Sara's worry.. Though she had it under control. There were still those rare few times where Sara's bloodlust kicked in. Since it had been so long she was out in the field. Sometimes she felt the need to get in a fight. But she had to keep herself controlled. Especially since Leo was gone a lot now. Sara needed to keep herself in check for the girls.
"It's your turn mommy." Sara looked up. A hint of confusion in her eyes as she was pulled from her thoughts. "Hmm?" Her eyes wandered to her piece on the board. "Oh.. Right.." She reached for the dice and took her turn. She noticed the worried expression on Abby's face. And could see Lisa looked concerned too. But for now, Sara ignored it.
"Mom.. Are you okay?" Abby asked. Sara just managed to drop the dice after shaking them for her turn when Abby asked the question. "Of course I am okay." She stated. Not looking up at her daughter, as she concentrated on moving her piece the correct number of spaces.
Abby narrowed her eyes. "No you're not. You always look down when you're not telling the truth." She said quietly. Sara let out a sigh as she met her daughter's eyes. Abby had inherited the trait of her and Leo of being able to read people well. "I'm sorry sweetie. I guess I'm just a bit worried about your father." Abby nodded. She was old enough to understand. She could see the strain between her parents for awhile now. And this had her worried. The possibility of her dad going back to his old ways, was hanging over all of their heads.
"We can play this another time.. If you're not up for it. We can watch a movie instead." Sara shook her head. "No no. This is quite alright. I need to distract myself. And a movie isn't going to be a very easy distraction." Abby gave a small shrug, looking unsure. She glanced over at Lisa, giving her a gentle nudge and a smile to lighten the mood. "You're turn." She said.
Just as Lisa finished her turn, a knock came at the door. This made Sara even more nervous. She worried it could be someone coming to tell her that something really bad happened to Leo. She narrowed her eyes. "I'm sorry. I know this is usually our day we set aside for family.." Sara started to explain. Abby slowly reached her hand over to place it over her mother's. Looking Sara straight in the eyes. "Mom.. It's okay.."
Sara managed a light smile before getting up to go answer the door. Only to see Mick and professor Stein. This made Sara even more nervous. "Mick. Martin.. What's going on?" Martin cleared his throat a little. Seeing Abby and Lisa behind Sara, sitting at the kitchen table. "I'm sorry.. We didn't mean to interrupt.. Can we.."
But before Martin could finish his sentence. Lisa got off her chair and rushed over. Wrapping her arms around one of Mick's legs. Sara smirked a little as she heard an "umph" sound from Mick. Then noticed he managed a small smile as he glanced down at Lisa. Sara knew Mick wasn't known for smiling a lot. Unless he was having fun setting places or things on fire. Lisa was one of the very few who Sara managed to sneak and see him give a full genuine smile to. "Uncle Mick!" She said in her usual chipperish voice whenever she saw him.
